Peacefulness ( chapter 6 )

You headed back into the building and you walked to chow . There were many other soldiers there waiting in line to get their food and you wanted to run away . You didn't like big crowds like that since it made you nervous and your anxiety didn't help it either . You walked next to Ghost and noticed how many soldiers backed away from him or moved away.

Ghost noticed the way you kinda avoided the people and he looked down at you and he nudged you . You looked up at him and you could know what he was saying even in silence and you gave him a small smile .

You waited in line with him for a few minutes and you grabbed a tray of food and you followed Ghost to a table. The thought hit you and you realized as soon as you sat down next to ghost at one of the tables.
" Uh, do the others know where I am ?."
You said worried .
" yeah I told them before , you're not the most alert. I saw you walking to the roof so yeah."
He said simply.
" oh ok that's good ."
You said, sighing in relief.

Your food consists of just some standard military food , today they had cream chipped beef on toast . It didn't look as appealing but you weren't one to complain. You dug in and it was not the greatest but it was edible and you ate a little bit at a time and you looked around . You noticed how soldiers avoided Ghost and it made you wonder why .

" How come everyone avoids you ?."
You asked.
" Because they're afraid and I'm also their lieutenant."
He said sternly while eyeing one down .
Ghost always kept his intimidating demeanor and look but you somehow weren't afraid of him and you thought he was cool and I mean he kinda was intimidating but you also thought he was still cool , minus him acting like an ass hat sometimes .

You didn't know what ghost had done but the soldiers in chow hall had seen it all and they didn't want to be on his watch list . They've seen him kill countless in seconds on missions if they were lucky and they've seen him in training too .
No one wanted to get on his bad side .

You saw someone walk past you and it was the same soldier from before who had looked at you and you turned around in your seat and you  looked him dead in the eyes and give and stern look.

'' you should learn to stop giving dirty looks, asshole."
You said as you kept a stern look .
''Didn't mean to cause t-trouble.''
The soldier said as he look towards ghost .
You looked towards ghost and watch as he stared down the soldier and you turned back around to face ghost .

" If anyone gives you problems just tell me ."
Ghost said sternly .

" got it , but someone will catch these hands If they continue to bother me after I ask them to stop ."
You shrugged .
It wasn't unusual for you to get into fights . You actually got into many while you were in foster care .

" I once sent a kid to the hospital who had to get  35 Stitches and I broke there nose  ."
You said while eating your dinner.
"  What ?."
Ghost said, confused .
" yeah

Start of Flashback ****

You were walking around outside in the field of the adoption center and you were listening to music with your phone and headphones minding your business until your headphones were yanked off your head.

" Hey, give them back !."
You shouted as you saw it was one of the older kids , they were about 16 and you were 13 . They have kept picking on you ever since you've been there . You never did anything until one day you got fed up and today was that day .

" What are you gonna do about it, fight me ?."
They snickered while holding your stuff in the air high so you couldn't get it. You tried to jump and get it but they pushed you away and you fell to the ground . You were sick and done with it , you quickly got up and you kicked them in their stomach causing them to drop your belongings  on the ground and they clothed their stomach as they groaned in pain .

You took this as you opportunity to get payback and you sure did . You beat the living shit out of them leaving them with a broken nose . You knuckles were bloody and you let out a huff of anger and stepped away leaving them there .

You naturally got sent to isolation where you weren't allowed near anyone but you kinda liked being alone anyway.

End of flashback*****

" they never messed with me after that .... Well cause I kinda got transferred to a different center heh..."
You laughed nervously.
" you landed some kid in the hospital with 35 stitches ....that's some good handy work but I don't recommend it unless it's for your protection."
Ghost said sternly .
" but still pretty impressive."
He added on .

" Well that's a crazy story lass ."
Soap chuckled from behind earning a jump from you.
" shit ! , you just stand there and stalk people."
You said, a little shaken up .
" no but I'm here to ask a question ."
He said as he sat down with his tray of food next to you .
" how come you were on the roof ?."
He asked .
" I uh..."
" she wanted to map out the area of the base to get a better look at her surroundings. Taught her in training ."
Ghost covered for you.  

You looked at him with a little smile and back at soap and you nodded as you continued to eat your food . You were glad Ghost didn't say the real reason but yet again he said he wouldn't tell anyone but you can never be too sure.

'' oh alright , that's good .''
He said as he ate his food as well .
It was kinda crazy how you've only spent a few days with them and it was already going well.
'' so like what do we do after this ?.''
You asked .
'' i mean whatever you want as long as it isn't illegal .''
Ghost said .
'' can't make any promises .''
You joked earning a grin from soap .

You were glad you had people to finally call family and you were glad you had something that resembled a home and you had people that cared for you . it might've been only a few days but you already like being there . you wondered what was in store for later and tomorrow but eh who knows.
