Artic hell (chapter 23 )

You all crossed over the Canadians borders and Ghost started to drive onto a dirt path . you got past border police pretty easily and there were no complications. You looked out the window and you saw the snow that lay around . You looked at the snow and saw some sort of bird print in them and it gave you a hint .
" What if we can use the snow to track the shadows if they try to leave ?."
You spoke quietly but with curiosity.

Gaz looked at you and thought for a moment until he spoke up again.
" That could be a good backup idea ."
He said and the others nodded in agreement.
You nodded as well and you looked out the window to see the white fall . It was snowing but only in flurry's , it wasn't a lot but enough to make you complain. You watched as there was woods and a lot of outdoor life . There were many trees and of course snow .
'' Ghost what's your favorite color ?.''
You asked randomly .
'' well uh i don't really have a favorite color but i think reds a cool color .''
He spoke.
'' thats cool my favorite color is f/c .''
You said while looking out the window .

Snow was cold but you found it quite calming . It was times like these you loved the most but you also dreaded . you were strong and you knew you would get through it , you always did .
Price was still thinking about what he had said and he felt guilty , he didnt mean for you to find out but the way he worded it made it sound as bad as it really was . there was no way to sugar coat what he had said . He planned on apologizing to you after the mission , that's if you all made it out alive . He looked out the window as well as guilt washed over him , he wished he hadn't said what he said . He was under pressure and didn't mean to say what he said but he knew you were more than just a '' asset '' to them , you were literally family now .

Ghost started to drive off road and into the woods and you let out a little shaky breath .
Ghost looked at you through the rear view mirror and he thought about it earlier . how he saw you panicked and distressed . He knew all too well that you had a nightmare but he didn't know what it was exactly about but he knew something deep was haunting you to cause your distress like this . he suffered from his own nightmares as well , he understood the feeling well but never talked about it much but talked a little towards you but in fact it was a big step for Ghost .

Ghost pulled out a GPS and he got the location to wear you would start off . He punched in the coordinates and started to speed up . you knew this was gonna be a big mission . who knows maybe you would even find shepherd , he most likely was the one leading this whole entire operation . you thought back to the last mission and you thought about the killing of graves. You think back now and you feel bad along with some remorse but you also don't . He was bad and deserved to go but another part of you also thought about how he probably had a wife and family, maybe even kids . you took a life away from a family but yet again graves took the lives of many innocent soldiers as well when he turned but this was the military life it was either kill or be killed .

The humvee came to a halt and you looked and saw you were now in the middle of the woods .
You didn't know exactly where but you knew it was a little far .
'' how come we stopped i thought we would go a little further ?.''
You said,confused .
'' we go unnoticed if were on foot like laswell said .''
Gaz spoke and you made a ' oh ' sound .
Ghost turned off the humvee and took out the key while grabbing his rifle .
The others did as well and you fixed your gear and gave a thumbs up .
The others nodded and started to get out of the vehicle and soap opened his door on his side . you were met with the cold air from the outside causing you to shutter at the coldness . goosebumps ran up your arms and along your body .

You hopped out of the humvee and the snow crunched under your feet . you looked around and saw the white around you and the flurries that fell . You looked and saw soap fixing himself and gaz and the others were waiting. You made your way over to Ghost and let out a little annoyed noise .
'' why does it have to be so fucking cold up here .''
You groaned.
'' Because of its location north of the Equator, it does experience cold weather. However, because of its size, it has many different climates. Just imagine, its southern border lies in the same latitude as sunny northern California, while its northern border is near the frigid arctic.''
Ghost said rather factually than in his normal tone .
'' well someone paid attention in school .''
Soap spoke with a smirk .
'' well some of us payed attention .''
Gaz poked at soap .
'' Hey ! .''
'' alright ladies enough , we have a mission .''
Price spoke sternly and everyone shut up and nodded .

You rolled your eyes at his words and you started to walk .
You followed ghost and walked over many broken trees and brush . it was extremely cold , you weren't used to the cold as much as this . This was different compared to your normal weather type of snow but this was just a pain in the ass.
'' this is arctic hell .''
You spoke as your feet crunched under the snow .
'' at least we're not in australia where there's literally the most scariest animals and unknow shit over there .''
Gaz spoke .
'' that's true.''
You replied .
I mean he wasn't wrong , Australia has the scariest animals and shit over there . People who live in Australia see that everyday so it's pretty normal for them but for you it was still scary as hell.
You couldn't imagine seeing a giant spider in the corner of your bathroom. I mean you had a rat in yours and you were ready to send that thing to Jesus but soap stopped you .

'' there a few miles down , we can camp out in a few hours once it hits dark and well hit them in the shadows .''
Ghost spoke with a deep gruff tone .
'' were gonna hit the shadows in the ..shadows .''
You said in a playful tone .
'' No pun intended.''
Ghost sighed .
'' sureeeeeeee.''
You giggled.
'' alright no messing around .''
He said sternly .

You gave a little nod and you kept walking .
You looked and felt you saw someone in the trees so you stopped walking . you looked around for a moment and you could've sworn you saw a girl with brown hair and light colored eyes .
Am I going crazy again ? . you shook it off and caught up with the others real quick and Ghost looked down at you .
'' what was that back there ?.''
He asked.
'' Nothing nothing ....it's fine ..''
You said quietly , still trying to figure out if that was someone or your imagination.

You and the others walked for a while and it started to get dark out . You grew a little anxious since you didn't know what else could be lurking about in these woods besides bear and moose.
You looked up and saw the stars and thought about how pretty they looked , they looked pretty and even more relaxing . you still thought about the girl you saw today , was it real or you going crazy ? . soap and the others stopped walking and you came across a large rock. You saw ghost set his rifle down low and soap sat down in the snow . Gaz did the same thing and he parched himself up against the rock . you looked down at the but gave in and sat next to gaz against the rock as well . Price sat near soap and you were all sitting in a little circle .

'' the fuck are you guys doing we have a missio-
Ghost yanked you down and you looked at him confused until you saw lights and heard the voices of other soldiers .
'' cost clear ?.''
One of the soldiers yelled
'' affirmative , no animals or enemy seen on sight .''
The other soldier yelled back .
'' oh shit .''
You whispered .
You heard someone over a radio as well and you heard the voices go faint and soon it was pitch black again .
Ghost made a hand signal with his hand and soap nodded and got ready to head into positions.

You grabbed your tablet and pulled it out and you started to log into it and made sure to get ready to try and hack the missiles and disarm it and deactivate it . This was gonna be one hell of a shit show but it was one you thought you might enjoy . as one would say blood is thicker than water , your squad was your blood and you weren't gonna let water wash it away .
