"Let it be known that I think this is a terrible idea."

"You've said that several times already."

"How did you even convince me this was a good idea?"

The two of them were currently heading South in the direction the feather had pointed them in. Philza had brought said feather along with them to help correct their direction every once in a while, but it was orienting itself faster and faster each time they paused to check it. They had ended up not going very far South before the direction changed to mostly East, so their assumption was that they should find their target pretty quickly.

That was an entire hour ago. Clearly the Watcher wasn't staying still.

A large mountain range loomed on the horizon, and from the feather's directions it looks like skirting around it isn't an option. Seems like the only way is through.

Trudging over mountains and through valleys, they slow down as the feather becomes more and more responsive. It gets to the point where the slight tug can be felt even while holding it, so they have to be close. Techno signals to be quiet and starts slowly creeping forward. Getting closer, Philza can hear faint voices from somewhere up ahead.

Through the trees, another valley is revealed, looking almost identical to the past several valleys they had passed through if not for one difference. The Watcher sitting in the middle of it talking to a human. Neither seem to be on edge, nor is the person acting submissive, so what are they doing?

Edging closer, they saw the Watcher lower one wing before the man sitting next to it dramatically flopped on top of it. Was he trying to get himself killed? No Watcher would... let... or maybe not? The Watcher seems to be amused by this for some reason, so apparently it's not a quick way to discover whether Watchers can kill through respawn. If he just gets a little closer, he could make out what they're saying...

*crack*

He had stepped on a stick. A very loud, noisy stick that just drew the Watcher's attention. Phil and Techno both put the nearest solid object between them and the now-alert Watcher, with Phil behind a tree and Techno ducked behind a particularly large rock. He can see Techno's ears twitch as he feels the attention of the Watcher fall on their section of the forest.

The echoing voice of the Watcher rang out through the forest. "Come out," it said. Exchanging a look with Techno, the silent response was a shake of his head. Then it spoke again, "I know that you're there, both of you." Should they really go out, or should they run instead? Philza's plan had fallen apart quite spectacularly after spotting the Watcher just sitting on the ground with another person, so who knew what to do at this point.

Taking up several seconds, Phil and Techno exchanged a silent conversation with their eyes. 'Do we go?' 'Bad idea, what if it's a trap?' 'But it already knows we're here' 'We could run' 'What if it chases?' 'We run faster'

Their silent debate is interrupted when they both get lifted off the ground. Techno tries to fight it, but with nothing to grab Phil can feel the magic wrapped around them bringing them closer to the Watcher. It took less than a minute to find themselves face-to-face with a rather unamused Watcher. This would be much more intimidating if not for the random person currently flopped on one wing, with another wing laid on top like a blanket.

Does he ask questions? Would his questions even get answered at this point? What would be the easiest way to defuse the tension? Maybe the feather? He pulls out the feather from his inventory, and says nervously, "I think you lost this." The Watcher looked at the feather, and he could feel surprise from it, followed by confusion as it continued looking at the feather.
