"Oh Grian~"

Grian sighs, already knowing from Scar's excitement what he's here for. Most of the others had opted to return to base this morning, except for Scar, so he'd stuck around to make sure his wizardly friend wouldn't get himself into trouble all alone.

Said wizardly friend skips over almost giddily, eyes gleaming with excitement, and places a small pebble on the ground, beaming at him. "Guess who managed to move a rock~"

Drily, he answered, "Dusky."

Dusky cocked its head to the side, confused as to why its name was said. "Wha- You know what I mean! Look! I did the thing!"

Scar sat down in front of the pebble and held out his hand towards it. A blob of barely visible magic, looking more like a heat haze than a blob, reaches out of his hand to wrap around the rock, and with intense focus, it lifts. The rock wobbles through the air a foot to the left, then drops. His friend looks up, grinning despite the sweat his mental exertion had spawned. "See? Telekinesis!"

"I do see. You've improved very quickly, well done." Maybe Scar will forget his promise if he doesn't bring it up? That shouldn't be too much to-

"Can you show me the Sith lightning now?"

Or not.

"I can..." He quickly warns, "But if you try to do it on your own, I'm not going to teach you how to do it. Got it?"

"I got it, I got it. Now do the lightning!"

Sighing, Grian puts his hands together, drawing them apart with a visual display of crackling lightning. "Fine. Again, don't try this yourself, but if you promise you won't try any of this yourself until I say you're ready, I can give you a brief summary of the two different types of lightning magic."

"Ooh, there are types?"

"As with all elemental magic, yes, there are types."

Scar stares expectantly at him, waiting. He doesn't speak. Scar makes a little 'go on' gesture with his hand. He still doesn't speak. Finally, Scar prompts, "What are the types?"

He doesn't respond. Instead, he reminds Scar, "I said I would give you a summary... if you promised not to try it until I say you're ready. I know it looks easy and harmless when I do it, but these things can be dangerous, and I quite literally do not want you using this kind of magic somewhere you don't have respawn. You know those videos that have a disclaimer saying they're done by qualified professionals, and not to try it at home? This is the magic equivalent of that. Magic is my thing. It's something I have dedicated my work, my free time, pretty much my entire life to. To put it into percentages, over 90% of my life has been spent in pursuit of the study of magic. By any and all definitions of the word, I am a professional."

"Geez, fine, I promise I won't try to practice lightning before you tell me to."

"Thank you. I know I'm being a stick in the mud about this, but I'm just really, really afraid you're going to try this and kill yourself. I promise I'll teach you when you're ready, but for now it's best to refine your control and work on the basics."

"I get it, so can you show off lightning now? This is cool, but I wanna see you blast apart a tree or something."

Gathering a decent little bit of magic, he creates a lattice of zero-resistance lines, and consumes a bit to generate a large quantity of electricity. The lightning crackles into existence along the guidelines, circulating much faster than the human eye can perceive to keep it from trying to escape the perfectly engineered cage. He begins his explanation.
