The Chained Watcher

Scar's Request

Grian had just gotten back home from finishing up a prank when Scar found him.

"Why didn't you bring me with you?"

Sigh. "Because, Scar, the amount of magic wouldn't have been healthy to be near."

"Well, then how about we go now?"

Now? He had already gone to Hypixel recently, if he went again this soon Xisuma would be more suspicious. "Scar, if I keep going to Hypixel too often then X is going to get more suspicious."

Scar thinks hard for a few seconds, before lighting up, "Well then I can be the reason!" What? "If I say that I want to go to Hypixel, you can tag along to keep me safe!"

"That... sounds like it might work, actually. Sure, why not."

Scar cheers, grabbing Grian's hand before dragging him in the direction of the Shopping District.

Xisuma soon finds himself greeted by the sight of Scar dragging Grian around while looking for him. What on earth are those two doing now? Scar noticed him and brightened, now dragging his victim towards him. Is there still time to pretend he didn't notice...?

No, too late. The two hermits are close enough to hear, and Scar called out a question. "Hey Xisuma, can I go check out Hypixel? I can bring Grian to make sure I stay safe!" 

Grian rubs his head sheepishly, adding on to Scar's request. "He knows I tend to head off to Hypixel every once in a while, and apparently decided he wanted to go too."

Scar is now making puppy-eyes, and it's working annoyingly well. "Fine, but you two have to be careful, understand?" If either of those two get themselves kidnapped because of this...

"Okay! We'll be super duper careful, don't worry!"

They run off in the direction of the portal. The hacker group who kidnapped Scar last time got decimated, so nothing should go wrong. Right?

"I told you that would work!"

"It only worked because no one can resist that expression, Scar."

The two hermits were now in line at the Hypixel portal, having managed to time their visit at roughly the same time as a bunch of other players. Despite the efficiency of the queue, it still took several minutes to get to the portal itself. Grian got to see Scar's amazed expression once they went through, taking in the bustling center of Hypixel.

After giving the bubbly hermit a minute to gawk, Grian pulled him over towards the smp portals. A feature had recently been implemented that let you join near a friend if you had no pre-saved spawn point, so they wouldn't have to find each other the hard way.

Vision clearing to reveal the snowy mountain-top he had logged out on, a startled yell could be heard as Scar spawned... at the top of a tree. He was currently wrapped around the trunk, trying not to break any of the branches keeping him from falling.

"A little help here, Grian?"

Laughing, Grian guided his magic to lift the terraformer off the tree before gently lowering him to the ground. If dropping him into a nearby snowbank was on purpose or not, who could tell? The spluttering noises coming from the snowbank made him laugh harder, before Scar managed to pull himself out.

Brushing the loose snow off his pants, Scar complained jokingly, "Well what was that for, hmm?" He reached down, picking up a handful of snow. "If I didn't know better, I might think you were trying to start a snowball fight!"

"A snowball fight, you say?" Grian picked up a clump of snow as well. "Those are fighting words, I'll have you know!"

"En Guarde!" Scar threw his snowball, Grian ducking as the projectile flew overhead.

"Take that!" Grian's snowball flew through the air, nearly knocking Scar's tophat to the ground as the man ducked to the side.

The back-and-forth continued for a couple of minutes, before Grian cried out, "I use my special attack! Avalanche!" and knocked the snow off of the tree Scar was hiding behind. Battle won, he helped up the snow-covered Scar before making him a warm coat. Probably should have done that earlier, now that he thinks about it.

Having recovered from his loss, Scar puts on the jacket before asking something. "Hey Grian, can I see you transform yet?"

There were still some people nearby, though not close enough to see where they currently are. "Not here, let's find an area with fewer people around. I don't want to find out the hard way that someone has stronger magic senses than most. Maybe East a bit?"
