Starting Anew

Recently, little has been happening on the Hermitcraft server. Demise was over, and nothing new had arisen in its place. Mega builds were almost all finished, and it was feeling like they had done all there was to do at this point.

A proposition had been raised by another of the hermits. They would leave this world behind, go find a new as-of-yet untouched world, and start again. Surprisingly, the idea was well-received by pretty much all of the hermits, and they all started wrapping up any unfinished business left behind.

The last blocks were placed on bases, final sales tallied in shops, minigames played for the last time... And then, they were ready. They all gathered by the server portal to look out at the Shopping District sprawled out around them, taking in the remnants of past events. Mumbo's sky chair, the prank war bases, someone even found one of the treasure hunt tokens that had somehow escaped discovery!

Naturally, they were reluctant to leave it all behind, but more than that they were excited to see what the next world would bring. Everyone takes their final look at the server, before stepping through and into the hub. The players sitting there looked a bit confused as to why all of the Hermitcraft members were exiting their server en masse, but didn't stop them as they ventured out to the edges of the hub.

Finally, Xisuma found an untouched portal, going through the necessary actions to set up respawn before leading the hermits through and into the new world.

The first sound that greeted them upon entry was the gentle lapping of waves on the shoreline, and when they opened their eyes the immediate sight was that of the ocean. Where were the trees? Looking around with growing confusion, they seem to have had poor luck with their spawn.

Said spawn is a tiny island in the middle of the ocean, nary a tree to its name. A mooshroom island is near-ish, but that's still not wood, so that doesn't help. Well, that's not Grian's problem. Taking off into the air, he started winging his way over to the horizon, looking around for wood.

Whether he yelled "Have fun with that!" or not is up for debate, but he's not actually just going to go off and do his own thing while the rest of the hermits are stranded on the island. He'll bring back some saplings at the very least, to allow them to make boats and grow trees.

Jungle trees might not be the best option, but it's what he found so it's what they'll get. He punched a couple logs off the tree, made himself an axe, and brought down the rest of the tree before breaking the leaves. Turning back towards spawn, he returned to see the hermits all fighting off drowned zombies that were trying to climb out of the water.

"Your hero has arrived!" Swooping in, Grian announced his presence while plopping down a crafting table and making swords. Cheers rose from those gathered, and the zombies were quickly reduced in numbers by the armed players. The rest of his wood went towards boats to allow the stranded hermits to get off their tiny island.

Hero work completed, Grian took back off to go start working on his own starter base. Back to the jungle he goes, contemplating what style he should go for now. Previously, he had focused heavily on a futuristic palette with lots of white and gray concrete, but he'd had enough of that for a while... Maybe some kind of homey jungle base?

Picking out a spot to start, he dug out a small cave before excavating a staircase for his mine. Luck was on his side, and he found a zombie spawner really close to his base location that he could turn into an xp farm. The only difficulty would be with how close you needed to be for it to activate, but that was a bridge he could cross when he got to it.

Back on the surface, it seems like he's got himself a neighbor in the form of Scar, who looks like some sort of wizard? Why does he look like a wizard? His base isn't even a wizardy thing, it's just a dirt ball floating there. Still, if memory serves correctly, the spawner is somewhere in between their two bases...
