"Ugh, this is so much more complicated when they're not being immoral monsters!"

Sitting on a somewhat nearby bench, Jimmy and Martyn eavesdrop on Grian's cautionary words to the other Hermits. As much as they wanted to find fault with him, he's just not done anything evil! No signs of an overarching plan for world domination, no slips in character to suggest a secret evil side, it's like he's just... It's like he's just another of the Hermits, worried about his friends.

Well at least with access to a High Magic plane they can contact other Listeners without having to jump over any interplanar hurdles. And they're actually in luck; it seems like there's a small branch of the Listeners on this planet. Sure, there most likely won't be any particularly powerful Listeners in a base that size, but the presence of a base means the local civilization should be better developed.

Well, unless there's been Watcher activity here, that is.

But either way, they should be able to contact Taurtis again. The connection had started fading once they left the old server, eventually cutting off completely, leaving them without any way of contact once more. Sure, not much has changed, but getting the opinion of someone who's been around longer than them is comforting sometimes.

Believe it or not, the two of them actually have an impressively high level of seniority, even if they prefer to continue as field operatives over the desk jobs they've been previously offered.

A lot of Listeners who get crippled (physically or mentally) will end up settling down at a desk job, still helping the cause while also having a much reduced chance of Watcher encounters. Others will end up taking the job for a couple centuries to give themselves a bit of a break. Take the opportunity to cool off a little, relax a bit.

Martyn starts his communicator on downloading a translator for the local language, though they'll still have to learn it, while Jimmy starts messaging Taurtis.

<Solidarity>: Eyyyy, guess who's finally got cell service again???

<Taurtis>: Do you even know what time it is for me.

<Solidarity>: Oh come on, we both know that you'd rather hear about our updates over sleeping.

<Taurtis>: Sometimes I wonder...

<Solidarity>: fr tho, this Watcher just doesn't make sense.

<Taurtis>: Is there anything actually new this time, or are you just looking to complain again.

<Solidarity>: Martyn says he still subscribes to his 'adopted by lonely grandma' theory.

<Taurtis>: Why isn't he saying that himself?

<Solidarity>: He's downloading the local language on his communicator. Why does slow download speed exist as a universal concept with all tech stuff anyways?

<Taurtis>: Beats me, it just is. So is there actually no new information this time?

<Solidarity>: Not really. There's been no inconsistencies in character, no signs of an evil plan, and no new actions. The only real update we've got is on the strange scavenger hunt he's got going for his servermates, and even then it's not much.

<Taurtis>: You mean the one that's supposedly in place to lead the group he's a part of to the truth of what he is?

<Solidarity>: Yeah, that one.

<Solidarity>: We can't get too close when they're holding meetings, since the Watcher occasionally shows up there, but it's not too difficult to get close enough to hear what they're talking about.
