Grian was sitting on his base when Scar came over, cheerfully waving before barely avoiding respawning due to flight related injuries. It was honestly impressive just how many times it's happened by now.
Scar, having had a bit of a rough landing, pulled himself up and walked over to sit next to Grian. He turned, tilting his head before asking a question like it had been on his mind for a while. "Hey Grian, when did Mumbo figure out about... you know, you."
Grian laughed a little at that, thinking back to when he first met the mustache-wearing redstoner. "He knew it the moment he saw me. I had been rather tied up at the time, so if he hadn't helped me I would probably have still been there." Scar's eyes widened at this discovery.
"What do you mean 'tied up'? Why were you tied up?"
Grian put a solemn expression on his face. "I'm afraid I was born with a terrible affliction"
Concern made its way onto Scar's face. "What kind of affliction? Are you okay? Can I help?"
Struggling to keep a grin off his face, Grian continued before he could laugh. "I was born with the terrible thing known as... a conscience. Terrifying, I know." Scar's disbelieving eyes met his no-longer-hidden grin, before the showman started laughing.
"Grian, you, *snort* you actually made me think...*giggle* made me think you had some kind of terrible sickness." Grian laughed along with him for a couple of minutes, before Scar re-asked one of his questions. "For real though, why were you tied up?"
Grimacing, Grian gave an actual answer to the question. "So you know how the lights kept flickering?" Scar nodded. "Well, that would be because the fort's power source got removed. Ever wonder why the magic torches were purple? Because why bother finding an external magic source when their own magic was more efficient and easy to use?"
Scar couldn't help but let out, "That sounds terrible! Why would they do that to one of their own?"
"Well, most of them thrive off of negative emotions, so I'm pretty sure that was reason enough in and of itself." He sighed. "But still, at least a small amount of good came from the experience." Scar's disbelief was plainly evident on his face. "Much like extensive exercise lets you recover stamina faster, magic practice does the same. My magic now gets generated at a rate that, to be frank, feels like cheating. If the average Watcher can go from empty magic to a full tank in 8 to 12 hours, and one that practiced a lot can get it down to 4... How OP is it to take less than an hour?" Grian started laughing. "In a magic fight, I'd win any battle of attrition."
Scar had a look of intense deliberation on his face now. "So, if Mumbo knew what you were right away, then that means..." He looked up like an eager puppy before continuing. "Can I see?"
Can he see what? His Watcher form? "Scar, no I can't show you. X would notice if I dropped the disguise and I'm really not ready for that conversation yet."
"Why would he notice?"
Well, Scar knows one secret, so why not one more? "X isn't human either. He's a Voidwalker, so he'd be able to tell if Watcher magic is actively used on his server."
"Woah, that's so cool! What makes Voidwalkers different from humans, exactly? I mean, there are the rumors, but..."
"Well, I don't know too much about them. They're pretty secretive after all. But, his eyes should be a really dark purple, like, void-under-the-end purple."
"Wow..."
"..."
"Do you think he'd let me look?"
"No, Scar, he would not let you look."
