Detective Casey

Part 3- first day of work.

Jades P.O.V:
I wake up to my alarm at 7 30am. I get up, put my robe on and go wake up Lilli.
As I go into her room I smile as she is spread out in her bed. I walk to beside her and gently wake her up.
"Lilli," I gently murmur, "wake up princess."
Lilli opens her eyes and looks at me.
"I dont feel well." She mumbles.
I put my hand to her forehead. She is warm. I grab my phone out. I dial Matt. He picks up.
"Hey sis," he answers
"Hey Matt," I reply, "you on shift today?"
"No," he responds, "why?"
"It's my first day at 21 and Lilli's got a fever." I tell him, "can I drop her off at yours?"
"Sure," Matt tells me, "see you soon."
"Yeah, bye!" I end the call.
Lilli is sitting up in her bed. I get her dressed and then I go get dressed. I grab my badge and my gun and holster and put them on my belt. I go and take Lilli out to the car and drive to Matt's. Lilli falls asleep in the car. We arrive and I put her on my shoulder. I go up and knock on the door. Matt opens it.
"Hey Matt," I smile, "thanks for this."
"No problem." He takes Lilli off my shoulder.
"Goodbye my sweet baby girl." I kiss Lilli's forehead.
I walk out and drive to the 21st district. I walk up the stairs and see an older woman standing at the desk. I walk up to the desk and she looks up.
"Can I help you?" She asks.
"My name is Detective Jade Casey," I tell her, "I'm supposed to start at intelligence today?"
"Ok follow me." She tells me, "hey brownies, you related to Casey at 51?"
"He's my twin." I reply.
"He's my husbands boss." She opens a gate up some stairs.
We walk up and a man comes over.
"Who's this?" He asks
"Jade Casey," she tells him, "your newbie?"
"Ahh yes," he replies, "hi, I'm Sargent Voight, call me Voight."
"I nod," and come up to the top.
"Have fun brownies." The woman leaves.
"Do you know why she gave me a nickname?" I ask him,
"Platt gives everyone nicknames." He chuckles, "come on."
I follow him in further.
"Hey," he calls out in a raspy voice, "we got a newbie."
Everyone looks up. I see Antonio run in. He sees me and runs forward.
"J," he hugs me.
"Hey t." I hug him back.
"You two have some sort of connection?" Voight asks.
"I grew up across the road from the Dawsons." I smile and break out of the hug with Antonio.
"Ok," Voight turns to the other, "these are detectives Olinksky, Halstead and Upton, and officers Burgess, Atwater and Ruzek."
"Nice to meet you." I smile kindly.
"Tell us about yourself." A woman with blonde hair, who I now know as Upton asks.
"Well, I'm originally from Chicago but I moved to Milwaukee 5 years ago." I reply, "I've got a 6 year old daughter called Lilliana, I have 2 older siblings, Matt and Christie. I'm also a lesbian."
"I'm also lesbian." Upton replies.
"Hey we got a case sarge." I hear burgess call.
"What?" Voight asks
"Family of three murdered in their home." burgess replies "1976 South Racine."
"Let's roll." Voight yells, "Casey, ride with Upton."
I nod and me and Upton run downstairs. We put on our vests and hop in a car. I put on the sirens and we speed to the address. We get out and look around. I see a shed out the back.
"Sarge I got a shed." I call
"Check it!" He replies
I head outside. I put my hand on the door handle. *bang* *bang* *bang*. I fall to the ground as three bullets hit me. Everything goes black.

Upton's P.O.V:
As I walk out the back to check on Jade I hear 3 gunshots. I see jade fall down. I run over. I put pressure on the wounds. Voight comes over.
"What happened?" He asks
"Shots came through the door," I tell him.
He nods. I grab my radio.
"5021 Henry," I call into the radio, "10-1 10-1 shots fired at police. Officer down. I repeat, Officer down. Roll an ambo to 1976 South Racine."
"Copy 5021 Henry," a voice came back through, "ambulance is dispatched."
"Hang on JJ." I whisper.
I hear sirens and soon Gabby and Shay from 51 come through the house,
"JJ?" Gabby stops moving.
"Hey keep moving Gabby." Shay murmurs
Gabby nods and they take JJ out to the ambulance. I go in the back with Gabby. We begin driving. Gabby calls Matt.
"What's up Dawson?" I hear Matt answer.
"Our call for officer shot," Dawson tells him, "it's JJ."
"Oh god!" I hear him gasp.
"bring Lil and meet us at the hospital." Gabby tells him, "lakeshore."
"I'll call Hal, she can take her," Matt replies, "thanks Gabs."
"No problem." Gabby ends the call.
I whisper, "hang on jj."
We arrive at lakeshore and Hallie runs forward.
"Matt called me, JJ shot?" She asks
"3 gsw's to the stomach. Lost a lot of blood. Heart rate 120. Bp 90/120. Sats 98%. GCS 12." Gabby tells her, "went unconscious straight after shots."
"Trauma 3!" Hallie yells.
She is moved and I stop at the doorway. I am taken into the waiting room. Matt runs in with a six year old, most likely Lilli.
"Where's Mama?" Lilli asks me.
"I don't know little one." I tell her, "but aunt Hallie is taking care of her."
"Okay!" Lilli smiles, "what's your name?"
"I'm Haley." I reply softly
"Hayley." She smiles.
Hallie comes out around an hour later.
"Aunt Hallie." Lilli runs over.
"Hi sweet girl." Hallie picks her up, "Haley, Matt come on."
We both get up and follow her. We get to a room and I take Lilli and put her on my hip. She is small for a six year old. We go inside and Jade looks over.
"Mama!" Lilli reaches for her mother,
"Hi baby girl." She smiles.
I place Lilli on her lap.
I see Matt kiss Hallie then I turn and see Lilli lying on JJ's Lap, asleep. I sit on the couch as Matt's radio signals.
"Truck 81, can you respond to a house fire at 19 west Walcott." The voice comes through.
"Truck 81 responding!" Matt speaks in response and leaves.
I feel an energy between me and Jade. I have a feeling she knows it too. I scoot the chair closer to her. She moves Lilli onto the mattress and leans over to me. She stares at me and kisses me.

Jades P.O.V:
As I kiss Haley I feel electricity surge through me. I break the kiss and smile. She kisses me back. She gets a phone notification and checks it.
"Unit wants to come up!" She tells me
"Yeah they can come up it tell them to be quiet cause Lilli is asleep." I respond.
She nods. Soon a knock is heard and we see Atwater at the door. He comes in followed by the rest of the unit.
"Hey dawg!" Atwater uses his almost famous saying, "not how you planned your first day to be huh?"
"Not quite." I ran my hand through Lilli's hair.
Voight looks over, "this your girl?"
"Yeah, Lilliana." I tell him.
"She's adorable." Burgess murmurs.
We all chat quietly before they leave. Haley lifts sleeping Lilli onto a fold out couch and placed a blanket over her. She then sleeps on the other chair. I close my eyes and drift into sleep.
