"I don't want to go to therapy today?!!"
I whine
"You agreed to go every day until the babies come honey"
"I didn't!"
"Yes you did honey"
She smiles as I sigh.
"Fine, I want you to stay with me please!"
"Of course."
We head to the therapy session.
I frown as I walk inside.
She calls my name and I head in.
We sit down and I don't speak
They try to get me to talk but I've gone mute.
I'm reluctant to talk so she hands me a worksheet.
I look at it with a frown.
I pick up the pen.
I think for a second then I start writing.
I write big paragraphs whilst tears drop onto the page.
Clara and Amelia watch as I flick my hand once it becomes sore.
JJ watches with an inquisitive face as I scribble some words out.
I continue writing and I fill the whole sheet up
"That's an amazing job. I think we should stop now. You've done a lot today"
She tells me as she takes the sheet off of me and puts it in a file that she hands to JJ
I shake my head.
"Alright, I'll give you another worksheet."
I nod and I smile lightly.
"I could give you worksheets to take home to distract yourself with and then you can discuss it with JJ just like that one"
I nod.
"Alright that sounds like a great plan! We're really making progress even though you're not talking"
I smile once she hands me a new worksheet.
I take a deep breath and I read the questions.
I answer them all in massive detail while tons of tears flow from my eyes.
I put the pen down and I shiver once I've finished.
"Good job"
The session ends so I have to go home.
JJ has a file full of worksheets that I can't wait to get started on.
We visit the kids and I play with them until I put them down to bed.
We head back to our house and I make dinner.
I eat it without saying a word.
I realise that I've been mute all this time.
"Hi"
I suddenly say to JJ who walks by me
"Hi baby"
She replies as she takes a sip of her can of coke.
She sits down next to me on the couch.
"You seem to enjoy those worksheets baby"
"I do. I find them better than talking. I'm able to work through it on my own and be independent with my problems like I've been for years"
"You should tell Amelia that"
"I'll text it to her"
I text her and she's says that we can work on worksheets for weeks and weeks if that's what I really want.
I reply yes and she sends a smile emoji and a thumbs up emoji.
I put my phone down and I head up to bed.
