Jennie left Irene's house with a goodbye.
When Irene saw Jisoo wasn't with her, she asked what happened but Jennie just smiled tightly and shrugged.
Irene sighed and said with a small smile, "I guess I'll see you at your wedding then."
Jennie glanced at her in surprise. She completely forgot she was going to get married in 3 weeks. She had spent all morning crying then an hour or 2 to make herself presentable.
It was almost 6pm and Irene told her to stay for another day if needed but Jennie hugged her and said she needed to go to work.
••••••••••
Jennie walked into work wearing her usual pantsuit and walked past Jisoo's desk.
The nameplate was gone and the desk was empty.
Jennie ran into her office and found a white envelope with "resignation letter" written in Korean on the front. She covered her mouth in shock as picked it up in her shaky hand and sat down.
Rosé walked in with a file, looking angry. "I can't believe you scared off another—Jennie?"
There were tears falling down her cheeks as she stared at the envelope. Rosé came around the desk and knelt before her.
"Jennie?! What happened? Why are you like this?!" She wiped away Jennie's tears while the brunette calmed herself down.
She turned away with a shuttered expression. "It's nothing."
"It has something to do with Jisoo." Rosé said perceptively.
Jennie wiped her cheeks and sniffled. "No...I'm just thinking about the wedding...how I'll have to leave my family." The lie sounded fake even to her, how would Rosé have believed it?
Rosé stood up. "Uh huh. Ok sure. You stay here in denial—"
"I'm not in denial!" She said furiously with her eyes blazing.
Rosé took a step back. She had never seen Jennie so worked up over something.
Jennie covered her face in her hands. She thought she had gotten over her anger with Jisoo but it seemed that she would always be furious over it.
How could she have made love to her with so much gentle kindness and passion, then leave?!
Her biggest regret was letting Jisoo stop her from telling how she really felt and letting Jisoo go.
••••••••••
Jisoo wasn't much better than Jennie.
She sat on the train to her father's house after arriving at work early and handing in her resignation.
She leaned against the window and looked at the message she had typed Mr.Kim.
Jisoo: I am going on a trip for inspiration. A gallery was interested.
Mr.Kim: Take your chance and tell me the result. Whether it be good or bad.
Jisoo sighed and turned her phone off. She closed her eyes and like always....
Her mind drifted to Jennie.
Her chubby cheeks.
Her dry humor.
Their constant fights.
Her constant pranks.
Her touches.
Her kisses.
Her smile.
Her vulnerability.
Her eyes...the most expressive eyes she had ever seen.
