This is part of a Double Update...Make sure you read Chapter 7 first x
"Oh my god, mum! Did you see that? He done the whale!" Elodie screeches at me.
"I did see, he's pretty cool, huh?" I grinned back at her.
The show, as predicted was absolutely phenomenal, our view of the stage from here just adding to the insanity of it all. The three of us danced and sang along to every song, all apart from 'Falling' which I had to turn away from for a minute to gather myself as I felt my eyes sting with tears. That song has always made me emotional. Sometimes because of how I feel about myself but also because I can't fathom the pain Harry must've felt at that time to write such a song. It's always made me just want to hug him and tell him it'll all be ok. The glossiness of his eyes while he performs breaks my heart, knowing that he still feels that pain.
Anne joined us for the most part, dancing and singing with the girls too. I still can't get my head around how welcoming she's been, she's such a special person. Harry's sister, Gemma got here just as he came on stage and quickly introduced herself to us too. I managed to have a quick conversation with her while Harry was talking to his fans, she's just as lovely as Anne and Harry and so far, we're getting on great. This is all so strange to me. I don't have friends, not anymore. Mark always used to make it difficult when I wanted to see them and often told me that they probably have better things to do with their day than sit a look at my mopey face. He's probably right.
The conga lines during 'Treat People with Kindness' were bloody brilliant and me, Anne, Gemma and the girls all made our own on the balcony we were stood on. It was so much fun.
My least favourite part of the entire night was when Harry decided this would be the day when he finally confirmed what 'Watermelon Sugar' was about. Both girls looked at me with such confusion on their faces. I just laughed nervously and told them I had no idea what he was talking about. It wasn't a complete lie but that's a story for another time. It seems to have worked anyway because they haven't mentioned it since.
Cheers Barry, nice one mate! It's been about 10 minutes since the show ended and as the crowd below us starts to disperse, I find myself feeling awkward, not really knowing whether we should start to make our way back to the hotel or wait for everyone else to start leaving. No one seems to be in any kind of rush, still chatting with fresh drinks in their hands. We make our way back inside and the girls head over to the small leather couch, plonking themselves down as though they couldn't bear to be standing for another second. I chuckle slightly at them and feel my phone buzz in my bag.
Barry - Just going to have a quick shower and I'll come find you. Wait for me please, I'll be super fast! - B x
Me - Of course. See you soon x
While we're waiting, Gemma comes over and starts up another conversation. She tells me all about her Podcast and which guest she's got coming on this week. I love how excited she is about it and promise that I'll give it a listen. She asks me about myself and what I do, seeming to take a genuine interest, especially when I tell her I work at the girl's school. The idea of having so many weeks off over the course of the year always seems to be peoples favourite part when I tell them. In all honesty, it's mine too. More time with my girls is always a bonus to me. She asks if we could swap numbers which I obviously agree to. Just as I'm about to get my phone from my bag I feel someone come up behind me.
