Chapter 9: Time-Skip & Jeju Island raid

At the night of the Red gate incident Jinho handed me my new Identification and all the related documents. I well use them to become an official hunter tomorrow.

Next day we raided a C rank dungeon primarily consisting of rock type monsters. Ever monster in that dungeon expect the boss was a one-shot kill so it didn't take long to close the gate. Jinho was fearful of the shadow army at first and still is but not as much.

After the raid I went and got my hunter License. I was evaluated as a standard A rank mage.

On my way back home Jinho called me on my new phone and invited me to a farewell party for Jinwoo tomorrow. I accepted the offer and spent the rest of the day searching for A rank or B rank dungeon raids I could participate. I ended up participating in 2 A rank dungeon raids at the week end.

The next day I went to the farewell party which was nice. Jinwoo will be out of contact for a while and I plan to increase my strength so that the next time we meet we will be equals. But since I reached my max level in Intelligence leveling up is not my priority, instead I will focus on collecting new spells and equipment.

"The raid will begin in four days. We'll go to Jeju Island and eliminate those ants once and for all. And for us to do that, we need your help, hunter Sung Jin-Woo. All the citizens wish for the recapture of Jeju Island. Could you join us in this operation?" said Go Gunhee.

"I..." as he was about to say he felt a massive amount of magical energy.

"I something wrong?"

"Oh, it's nothing... there seems to be hunters fighting somewhere nearby."

"HUHUHU, you have a good sense as expected. For you to detect them from this distance. S-rank hunters are currently warming up in the GYM. Are you perhaps talking about that?"

"S-rank hunters?"

Inside the GYM Baek Yoonho from the white tiger guild and Ma Dongwook from the Fame guild were having a friendly match.

"It's uncommon for all the S-rank hunters to gather in one place. The magical energy you sensed earlier is probably from them." said Gunhee.

"Hunter Baek Yoon-Ho is getting slightly pushed back."

"But if Baek Yoon-Ho were to give it his all, Ma Dong-Wook wouldn't stand a chance. It's been a while, hunter Sung Jin-Woo. The man wearing the Dobok is the Fame guild's Ma Dong-Wook." said Choi Jong-In.

"You said that hunter Baek Yoon-Ho isn't giving his all, but why is he hiding his strength when hunter Ma Dong-Wook is not an opponent he can slack off with?"

"It's hard for one to use all their strength when there are a lot of eyes around. Since president Baek turns into a real monster when he fights. And the people gathered over there is..."

"Ryuji Goto and Japanese S-rank hunters."

The Japanese hunter Ryuji Goto and his translator were talking when they noticed Randall watching them from the corner.

"Who is he? He doesn't feel like an S-rank."

"You are right. He is an A-rank magic type hunter." said the translator.

"I thought only S-rank were participating in the raid."

"That was their initial plan. But that hunter's reputation earned him a place in the raid."

"Reputation?"

"The guy cleared 23 dungeons in a week. He was so good at it that the agency gave him permission to raid solo and he did. So far he cleared 3 A-rank dungeons alone."

"If that's true, then how could he possibly be an A-rank. It doesn't make sense."

"Rumors say he is immortal. It sounds unbelievable but so are his accomplishments."
