Chapter 15: Betrayal

After clearing the S-rank Gate Jinwoo and Randall started hunting the remaining Giants that managed to escape. After a few days they managed to killed every Giant except the one who crossed the sea, Jinwoo added them to his shadow army.

Jinwoo's strength had increased after he killed King of Giants and now with the addition of the Giants his shadow army is stronger as well.

Randall on the other hand received approximately 80,000,000 souls from this raid and a spell called 'Pledge of Honesty'. His level cap also increased from 52 to 99. Randall immediately used those souls to max his intelligence and after that faith, then vitality. He also wanted to max his attunement but didn't have enough souls.

Randall was happy about his sudden increase in strength. He thought he finally could stand beside his friend and the person he respects the most, Jinwoo, as an equal.

Jinho then left because of some family issue followed by Randall shortly after. On his way back Randall received a call,

"How are you love?" said Randall.

"I am fine, but why didn't you call me until now? I was worried." said a girl.

"I have been busy hunting. I am sure you understand."

"Ok, but when are you coming back?"

"I will be there in 4 hours."

"Ok, I will make dinner."

"fine. I have to go love. See you in 4 hours."

"Ok, I will be waiting."

Then Randall turned off the phone and fell asleep on his seat as the plane took off.

Randall meet this girl few days after joining Hunters Guild. She newly join the guild and accidently ran into Randall. She was friendly and Randall liked being around her. They got closer as the days went and within a week they became a couple.

Randall felt something was off with her but never found anything to reinforce his suspicion, So he played along.

Randall reached Korea at 7 pm. He then made his way to his house which he bought with the money he earned as a hunter. He was welcomed by his partner and they then had dinner. After which they made love and then went to sleep.

The next morning Randall booked a raid at 10 am. He left home at 9:30 but then returned as the had forgotten to bring his equipment. Upon returning he found the house empty which was weird as his partner was suppose to stay home today. He looked around for clues and found something in her laptop. She was talking to this unknown person every morning before Randall woke up and this morning they decided to meet at a coffee shop after I left.

Randall got worried as one of the hunters in his guild was betrayed by his partner recently and Randall couldn't help but assume the same. He canceled his raid and went to the coffee shop mentioned in the messages.

Upon reaching the location he used hidden body to hide his presence as she was a B-rank hunter and would sense him nearby otherwise. After enter the shop he saw his partner talking to another man. They didn't notice him standing 10 feet away and kept talking.

Randall was disappointed in her and he left. Later when she returned home Randall was waiting for her.

"I thought you had a raid today." said the girl.

"I saw you at the coffee shop. Who was he?" said Randall. Anyone could sense the anger in his words.

"Wh...What are talking about I went grocery shopping."

"Don't...test my patience." said Randall as he threw the chair he was sitting on at the wall.

She knew she was on thin Ice. An angry S-rank is very dangerous and that only got intensified as Randall usually is very calm. Sweat could be seen on her face and fear in her eyes.

"Say 'I Accept'." said Randall as he used the skill 'Pledge of Honesty'.

"I accept..." said the girl. Her fear could be felt from her words.

"Who was he?" said Randall.

"..."

"Have you been unfaithful to our relationship?!" said Randall loudly.

"No. I never cheated on you."

"Then who was he?" said Randall. His was visibly less angry then before.

"He is a coworker."

"Coworker? You left your job long ago. Where does he work?"

"...Hunter Association."

"You never told me you worked at Hunter Association."

"I lied..."

"You what? What else did you lie about?"

"I didn't l..."

"As long as my spell is active you can't lie. That fact that you attempted that puts you in a worse spot."

"..."

"If you don't come clean I promise you will die painfully."

"I was tasked with becoming you lover by the Hunters Association."

"Why?"

"They needed something to keep you from leave the country."

"So this was an act? All of it?"

"..."

"Did you really love me?"

"No."

"What about you being a virgin?"

"That was a lie as well."

"That's actually good. Now at least I won't feel guilty about doing this." said Randall as he equipped the Dark Hand.

Randall then stole her humanity using the Dark Hand. After he was done only a lifeless corpse remained with no hint of her former beauty. Her corpse now looked like a zombie.
