They were your typical young American Couple that lived in San Francisco,California.
Philip Williams was in his early twenties and he was an defense attorney working for a well known law firm and Phyllis was a professor at a well known university teaching English.
Philip Williams and Phyllis Howell met while attending college and they married in 2145.
They decided to put off starting their family until they were financially stable.
They were only in their twenties, and during the late twenties.
The onset of World War III started with young people taking sides, and you didn't take a side. You were considered a Pacifist.
You had to state if you were for or against the War.
Philip and Phyllis Williams decided to remain neutral along with their friends, Samuel and Rose Weston and Perry and Carrie Harris.
They didn't want to get involved with the protesters or demonstrators carrying their war slogan signs.
When they were approached by either side and they were asked their position and Phillip told them " My wife and I are neutral and we will remain that way."
"I don't understand why you don't do something more with your time than protest or demonstrate." Philip tells the group of young people.
The protesters and demonstrators mocked him as he walked by and they continued to demonstrate.
Outside where his wife worked. The young students demonstrated either for the war or for against it, but Phyllis decided to take sides.
It was far from a peaceful demonstration and the police came and arrested many of the students at the campus.
It reminded Phyllis of the tragedy that took place at Kent State in Ohio in the 1970's and many young students lost their lives.
Phyllis looks away as the students are taken away by the police for breaking the law and rioting.
Other professors join Phyllis and they look at each other and one says, " This could have been avoided."
"I don't know why these students can't just have a peaceful demonstration with the right documents." Another professor states.
"My husband and I refuse to get involved with this. We have decided to remain neutral." Phyllis tells them.
"We have decided to put off having our family until we are financially stable." Phyllis states.
"The other day a group stopped us on the streets and asked us what our position was and we told them we were neutral." Phyllis tells her colleagues.
"They called my husband and I a pacifist." Phyllis states.
"I didn't know that it was shameful to want peace." Phyllis states.
"Philip and our friends won't take sides as we don't believe in this war and what good will come from it." Phyllis explains.
Some older professors agree with her, but the younger ones don't agree at all.
One older professor tells the group about the United Federation of Planets relocation program in San Francisco where the United Federation of Planets is and Phyllis looks at him " What do you know about the program?"
"It has just been implemented by the United Federation of Planets recently." The professor tells her.
Phyllis tells Philip and her friends about the Relocation Program started by The United Federation of Planets.
Sam tells Philip "They know about the impending World War Three but they don't know when it is going to break out. We are at the early stages of World War III."
Philip, Sam, and Perry talk it over and they drive to The United Federation of Planet headquarters and they ask about the program and the Starfleet Commander tells them about the new relocation program.
"Our program has just been launched and it is limited to only the first 200 couples that sign up." The officer tells them.
"We have room for your wives and you." The officer tells them, "We ask that you carry only what you can in your suitcases, liquid everything, close down your bank accounts, and sell your homes."
Philip, Sam, and Perry sign up for themselves and their wives to set off from San Francisco International Airport on February 1, 2148 and they are told it will take them to reach Star Base 12 in four and half years and they reach it on February 1, 2153.
The Williams, Harris, and Westons all have two weeks to get everything done before they board The USS Yorktown from San Francisco International Airport.
Philip William turns in his resignation to the law firm, and Phyllis turns her resignation into the university and they place their condo up for sale for whatever they can get for it, as does the Harris and Westons.
They close down the bank accounts and pack up their clothes, treasured family pictures, silverware and china and legal paperwork.
They sell everything else for what they can get for it and place their funds in a strong box that they carry with them on board the USS Yorktown.
The Captain of The Yorktown is Captain Ronald Tracey and he greets his passengers and he tells them " Our voyage will take us four to five years."
"My crew and officers will do the best they can to make and keep you comfortable. There are 190 other passengers aboard." Captain Tracy explains.
"They have come all over the United States to escape the onset of World War Three." Captain Tracey states.
"Star-Fleet Command and The United Federation of Planets have no idea which way it's going to turn." Captain Tracey states.
"The United Federation of Planets has just launched this program and it plans to expand it to Europe in the immediate future." Captain Tracy states.
"I do know that several Star-Ships patrol the sector where both Star-Base 8, Star Base 10 and 12 are." Captain Tracey tells them.
"Every deck has five yeomen to attend to your needs and we have a well stocked mess hall, a recreational hall, library, sick-bay, a medical officer and nurse on board and a chapel." Captain Tracey tells his guests.
Captain Tracey asks one of the yeowomen to show his quests to their quarters.
Shortly after they are settled in. The USS Yorktown sets off for Star Base 12.
Philip tells his friends "We are safe and we don't have to worry about being heckled by demonstrators or protestors."
"I was told by the officer that The United Federation of Planets Corps of Engineers have already started building houses on Star Base 12." Philip tells his friends, " I say we all live together and keep to ourselves."
"We really don't know that other couples on board, I am sure they feel the same way that we do." Sam tells everyone.
"It is my understanding that none of the couples have even started their families." Rose tells her friends.
"We have plenty of time to start our family once we arrive on Star Base 12." Phyllis tells her friends.
"If Philip and I have only one child. We will be happy." Phyllis states.
"At least our child will be raised in peace and harmony and unaffected by the onset of World War Three." Phyllis states.
Rose nods, " One child will do." Rose agrees, and Carries agrees with Rose and Phyllis that one child is enough, but in reality they really want two children.
The Harris, Williams and Westons travel towards Star Base 12 to escape the persecution from the war fanatics and zealots.
