A feud starts when Lord Frederick William Howard becomes Duke of Norfolk Territory after the death of his father, Lord Patrick William Howard in 2190, shortly after the birth of Lady Sophia Charlotte out at Norfolk Estate.

Lord Roger, Baron Clifford travels to congratulate Lord Frederick William Howard on his ascension to the Dukedom of Norfolk Territory, and he comes in good wishes, but when Lord Roger walks in and he bows, Lord Frederick William is sitting in the drawing room of Norfolk Estate and he doesn't rise and return to the bow like his late father taught him.

Lord Roger Clifford brings with him his son, Lord Thomas Clifford and he is only two years older than Lady Sophia Charlotte Howard and he tends to try to make a marriage arrangement for Lady Sophia Charlotte to marry his son and heir, Lord Thomas.

Lord Roger Clifford bows " I have come to extend my congratulations to you, Lord Frederick William. I am very sorry to hear about your father." Lord Roger tells him.

"Yes. It is a great loss." Lord Frederick William states, " My father will be missed."

"My father Lord Robert had a lot of respect for your father, Lord Patrick William." Lord Roger tells Lord Frederick William.

"A lot of people had respect for my late father." Lord Frederick William explains, " I am not my father."

"Lord Edward Hastings and Lord Thomas Neville asked me to extend their condolences to you." Lord Roger tells Lord Frederick William.

"Please tell them thank you from my family and me." Lord Frederick William answers.

"Lord Frederick William. Have you given any thought about the marriage of your daughter?" Lord Roger asks.

"I am more concerned about the marriages of my oldest son, Lord Frederick William II?" Lord Frederick William explains, "He was born in 2184 and he is six years old."

"My next concern will be the marriage of my second son, Lord Charles Andrew Howard. He just turned five years old." Lord Frederick William explains.

"My daughter is only two months old, Lady Jeanette Virginia will decide who our daughter marries per our agreement." Lord Frederick William explains.

"How would your good wife feel about a marriage between my heir and your daughter?" Lord Roger asks.

Lord Frederick William looks at Lord Roger Clifford, and he says " Lord Clifford. Lady Sophia Charlotte is the daughter of a Duke and your son is the son of a Baron. I think Lady Sophia Charlotte deserves to marry the son of a Duke or at least the son of an Earl."

"Lady Sophia Charlotte will come with a good dowry, but I must ensure she receives the rank due to her as the daughter of a Duke." Lord Frederick William explains.

"My wife was the daughter of The Duke of Lancaster and we were equal in rank." Lord Frederick William states.

"Have you considered the daughters of Lord Hasting or Lord Neville?" Lord Frederick William asks.

Lord Hastings is a Baron and so is Lord Neville." Lord Frederick William states.

"You may want to consider Lord Edward Devereux's daughter, or Lord Alexander David Stuart's daughter, or Lord William Seymour's daughter." Lord Frederick William tells him.

"What are you saying, Lord Howard, that my son isn't good enough for your daughter?" Lord Clifford asks.

"I am telling you, that my daughter deserves to marry a son of Duke or an Earl." Lord Frederick William states, "I wouldn't consider my daughter worthy to marry the son of a Baron or Count."

"Since there are no Marquesses on Star Base 12. I will strive to make a worthy match for Lady Sophia Charlotte in 2300 when she turns 15 years old." Lord Frederick states.

Lord Roger Clifford looks at Lord Frederick William Howard and he tells him" One day Lord Frederick William Howard. Someone in your family will fall in love with someone in my family and when it happens if it be a son or daughter they will not be allowed to marry within your family."

"I remember Philip Frederick Williams told you that we were a dying breed and one day our sons or daughters would marry outside of the aristocracy and seek new blood." Lord Roger explains.

"I paid no attention to that commoner and still don't." Lord Frederick William states.

"Oh! You think you are better than the rest of us here on Star Base 12?" Lord Roger asks.

"I don't have to think about it, Lord Clifford. I know it.' Lord Frederick William states.

"One day Lord Frederick William Howard. A young woman will enter the lives of your great-great-grandson and she will put him into his place like your wife does you." Lord Clifford states.

"I hope that doesn't happen." Lord Frederick William states " The way my wife raises our sons. It may happen."

Lord Roger Clifford bows with his son, Lord Thomas in his arms and he walks out of Norfolk Estate and he climbs back into his carriage and heads back for his barony on Star Base 12.

News spreads fast about the feud between Lord Frederick William Howard and Lord Roger, Baron Clifford.

Eighty years after the death of Lord Frederick William Howard and thirty years after the death of his son, Lord Charles Andrew Howard SR, his great-great-grandson, Lord Richard William Carey meets and falls in love with Lady Henrietta Rose Clifford in 2268 and in 2270 he asks her to marry her but her father, Lord Thomas tells her " No. Your grandfather was insulted by Lord Frederick William Howard and he thought his daughter was far too good to marry  me"

"Lord Richard William Carey is Lord Frederick William Howard great-great-grandson through his daughter, Lady Sophia Charlotte." Lord John tells his daughter.

"Father. He is Lord William Carey's great-grandson." Lady Henrietta Rose explains.

"Lady Henrietta Rose. I won't tell you who to marry but think of your family and how the Howard's have insulted us." Lord Thomas explains.

"I will make sure you marry into a worthy family like the Neville's, Staffords and they are worthy to marry in." Lord  Thomas  states "I will look into the Grey and Seymour families as well."

Lady Henrietta Rose Clifford is torn between her love for her family and Lord Richard William Carey and she turns down his proposal in 2270.

The promise that Lord Roger Clifford made to Lord Frederick William Howard in 2190 came true in 2270.
