Chapter-14(The promise)

Lina's POV

Alisha tried her best to comfort him but he looked unconvinced.

"Both of you listen to me. I know nothing will happen to me so don't worry my dear children. Lina, stop crying dear look how your beautiful eyes and your little nose turned red. I know my son looks cold and expressionless but he is a very good child dear. Why don't you both try to be friends with him." She said.

I know what she is trying to do but I choose to ignore it because all I wanted now was to make her happy in her last days. She is my godmother and always wished well for me and she is a pure soul who is looking out for her son as she is going to leave this world soon. Her choice is not bad as Lina loved Alexander and always looked out for him. Lina really did love Alexander.

One can never decide who we should fall in love with the same thing happened with Alexander. If one sees this from his point he also suffered enough in his life. He never killed Lina. She is just trapped in a conspiracy and Alexander didn't get enough time to get her out of it. Even in the story Lina never regret loving Alexander. Why do I feel like I am doing wrong by ignoring him. Looking at it he is just an 8 years old kid who is going to lose his mother. Why do feel distressed about this fact. I was brought out of my emotional turmoil when I saw Alisha streching out her hand infront of me.

I looked at her in confusion not understanding what she is trying to do.

" Lina is a good child Alex and I know you guys make a wonderful pair... I mean friends so why don't you think about it. Try to get to know each other. Promise me both of you that you will never be separated,  you guys must support and back up eachother." She said.

I just looked at her processing her words which added further to my already distressed state. I looked up at Alexander only to find him already looking at me.
His gaze holds worry and pain fo his mother as if he knew that these might be the last promise that he makes to his mother.

I know Alisha didn't mean to force me into into anything I read in the book which clearly said she told Elena(Lina's mother) to go forward with the engagement only with Lina's consent. If Lina didn't want to get engaged then she could free herself from this engagement but Lina had already fallen in love with Alexander hence they went forward with their engagement.

I know that it is wrong to blame only Alexander for Lina's death when he himself got betrayed. Lina didn't reveal things about the heroine in time. All this misunderstanding caused her death and the main cause of Lina's death is the Villan( Christian Ayettey). We also don't know about Alexander's feelings as this story was written in the female lead's POV. I didn't read this part properly on how Lina was poisoned by him. How she was blamed because I felt sorry for her and skipped those details. Alexander may not be a good lover but he has always been a good friend to her.

So I decided now that I will be his friend and will make him have a happy ending with the heroine. I will make him a successful and a happy person. I also need Alexander to save myself ,my mother and fathe from the sad ending.
I only have two best friends in my last life both of them are girls and never had a boy bestie. I this life I will have a boy bestie that to the Crown Prince who is going to be the most powerful person in the empire and the male lead. Befriending him will not be a bad idea right but first I must prepare myself for this change. I just need sometime to accept this fact.

I saw Alisha looking at me with a sad and retreated her hand.

" It's ok if you didn't want to be friends with him. I know my son is scary." She said, trying to joke covering her sadness at her failed attempt on making me friends with him. That's what I love about her she cares for my feelings and understands me just by looking at me. If she wants she can order me as she is the empress of this empire and even my dad must follow her wishes but she never ordered me or my family. She is a person who respects and values the relationship than the status and power. Even being and empress she is here requesting a 5 year old girl for her son. This really increased my reluctance to part with her. She is really innocent that is why that bastard emperor cheated on her. I really hate the author for killing her chapter in the story.
