Chapter 34

Kim's POV

I wasn't sure what to say and it didn't seem like the girls did either.

"What...what happened?"

"I don't know...Megan's sister said they had been...been in an accident...and were now in hospital."

"Aright babe, what do you want to do?"

"I don't know."

"Do you want to go and see them?"

"Why would I?" I was quite surprised at the change in Katie's tone of voice.

"They've been your parents for 15 years?"

"But they left me. They couldn't even be bothered to say goodbye."

I was quite stunned, they didn't really help themselves, but I knew Katie would regret not seeing them if something happened to them.

Before I could say anything to her Katie had climbed off my lap and ran out of the room.

I looked towards the girls and they all had a sympathetic smile on their faces.

"I'm gonna go up and talk to her, Nicola will you ring Cheryl, tell her what has happened and tell her I'll talk to her in the morning."

"Course I will."

"Thanks."

I'm just about to walk out of the room before Nadine's words stop me for a second. "Remember we are all here if you need us."

As I'm walking up the stairs to Katie's room, it makes me smile at the amount of people that are there for her. If something ever happened to me or even me and Cheryl I know that she wouldn't be on her own because she will have everyone else around her and it really comforts me to think that.

I reached Katie's room to find her sat on her bed against the headboard.

She was just staring at a random spot on the floor, something I knew she did when she was thinking about something.

She didn't seem to notice that I had walked in until I sat next to her on the bed, but she still didn't look at me.

"Katie, what's going on?"

"They left me...why should I care about them."

I could feel my heart breaking but I knew I needed to stay strong for Katie, I put my hand on her shoulder trying to pull her into me but she pushed away from me, got off the bed and stood up.

Her actions hurt me slightly but I knew she didn't mean it.

"They couldn't even be bothered to say goodbye...they just left...you saw, they packed my stuff and left. It shows they never really cared for me, so why should I care for them?"

I really needed her to listen to me but I knew she wouldn't take my comfort at the moment, so I stayed sat on the bed where I was.

"Katie...I know they didn't say goodbye but that may have been too hard for them to do so they chose not to do it."

"It makes no sense though, if you loved someone you would say goodbye and check up with them every now and then but since I've been with you I haven't got a message from them, nothing."

I didn't speak up because I simply didn't know what to say.

"If you love someone you should never let them go..." The tears were falling from Katie's eyes now and I could tell she didn't just mean John and Megan.

She was looking straight into my eyes so I moved off the bed towards her however whenever I took a step to her, she took a step back.

"Katie..."
