Crystalline Chaos (Ninjago x reader)

Chapter 13

3rd POV

    We are very rarely ready when our lives change. Whether it be sudden or planned, we're barely ever completely ready for what the future will hold. The group had thought, on a subconscious level, that no matter what happened, they would always have their Sensei to guide them when they got lost or unsure. None of them were ready for him to be gone yet, and certainly not so suddenly by the hands of the Great Devourer, the monster they had tried so desperately to stop.

"Sensei..." Kai said holding back tears.

"No way..." (Y/n) mumbled, unable to fully comprehend what was going on.

"No." Jay whimpered softly as they stared in shock at the place where he had been moments before.
How could this happen? They all thought, but no one had an answer. They heard the sky above thunder, as if outraged at what had just occured, but unable to do anything. The Devourer smacked and licked its lips before looking around for something else to eat, finding the ninja and (Y/n) watching it (Nya had disappeared at some point with Lloyd, but none of them noticed). It roared, showing off its sharp fangs to them all as they shivered in fear.

"Oh, maybe if we stand perfectly still..." Jay started, his voice shaking, but the others abandoned that idea the moment the Great Devourer roared.

"RUN!" Kai yelled out as they all started running away from the huge snake who was right on their heels. Whilst they ran Jay momentarily lost his footing and grunted as he fell. (Y/n) heard his grunt and quickly turned around, hauled him up and the two started running even faster toward the Bounty that had landed nearby.

"WAIT! WAIT FOR US!" He yelled after the others as the two of them sped up to get away from The Devourer. The others jumped into the Bounty's bridge before quickly standing to the side to let the other two in. (Y/n) was the first one in. She stopped in the doorway to catch her breath but didn't see Jay until he bulldozed into her, causing them to both roll on the ground before crashing into the wall in a heap, Jay laying over (Y/n), as the two groaned in pain.

"Ow...Jay..." (Y/n) grumbled as she pushed him off of her, which he gladly did as an embarrassed blush spread across his face. To ignore it, he turned towards the screen before turning white as a sheet.

"Uh, hate to tell you this, but objects in the mirror are closer than they appear." Jay said urgently as he pointed towards the footage showing the Devourer coming closer.

"Working on it. Blasters on full." Nya said as she pressed a button which made the Bounty lurch forward with incredible speed. For a moment, all seemed like it would be okay as the huge snake dissapeared behind them.

"Whoo-hoo! Take that, you stupid snake!" Kai said, feeling triumphant, when (Y/n) tensed.

"Look ahead!" She yelled and everyone turned to find the Great devourer emerging from the sand in front of them.

"Uh, I think it heard you." Jay said to Kai as everyone gawked at its size except for (Y/n) who growled lowly. It tried to eat their ship, but thankfully Nya maneuvered it out of the way, missing its mouth by a hair's width, but the Devourer persisted, trying to catch them as they fled.

"Nya, we gotta go faster. That thing is gaining on us." Kai said nervously as he watched it come closer from the back window.

"We're going as fast as we can. I'll try to make it to Scattered Canyon." She said as she started steering in that direction.

"Probability of us making it that far is less than 8 percent." Zane told her, unsure if it was wise, but flinched when Nya yelled at him:

"Never tell me the odds!"
