Chapter 21

(Y/n)'s POV

"Don't rely on your eyes. Use your ears." Cole instructed Lloyd as he stood in the middle of the dojo, the four ninja surrounding him with weapons raised.

"Your gut often sees more than your eyes. If you learn to listen to that which goes on around you, you can grow beyond comprehension."
(Y/n) spoke up cryptically from the corner where she was observing, ears and tail flicking with interest as the tension in the room rose. How did they get here? Well to answer that question we'll have to go back to yesterday.

"FRICK!" (Y/n) yelped in pain as she fell on her back. She sighed in frustration and took off the blindfold in order to glare at the obstacle course. Once more she had been defeated by the thing...and it was always at the exact. Same. SPOT! "I WILL defeat you obstacle course, mark my words." She hissed before getting up again. She was about to put the blindfold on again when someone coughed behind her, making her jump in surprise. She quickly turned around to see Cole by the door, an amused smile on his face. Oh crap. "How long were you watching?" She asked him as she fought against the heat racing up and through her cheeks, neck, and ears.

"Not long before your declaration of war on our training equipment." She blushed a little harder as he chuckled before walking over to her and continuing. "What are you doing by the way?"

"Oh! I'm just training so that I can learn how to fight without my eyesight. When I'm in my moments, most of my senses are kind of numb, I don't hear or feel much physically and emotionally, but I can still see. In case I ever go blind or if it's dark, I want to be able to fight without too much of a problem, no matter what state I'm in." She explained as Cole nodded.

"Makes sense, but I hope you know we'd all be there for you if you ever were in a state that would make it hard for you to fight." Cole told her as a slight blush formed on his face, though he refused to make eye contact with her. She gave him a comforting smile to ease the warmth and nervousness he exuded before nodding.

"Of course I do! I just want to know for myself that I'll be okay should there ever be a situation where my eyes are compromised and you guys aren't there." She told him with a bright smile, though it wavered as she noticed discomfort from Cole. She tried to look at his face, but he grabbed the back of her poncho before she could and pulled it over her head, making her yelp as she tried to free herself from her poncho. "Hey! Why did'ya do that?"

"Don't say such morbid things with such a bright smile on your face weirdo." He huffed and (Y/n) was about to retort when he suddenly let go. "THAT'S IT! I finally have an idea for Lloyd's lesson tomorrow!" He said before picking her up and twirling her around, making her yelp once more. "Thanks (Y/n)! Oh right, will you be joining the lesson this time?" He asked her as he put her down. She held on to his arms for a moment longer as she tried to regain her balance before shaking her head, causing him to let out soft waves of disappointment.

"Nah, I'm more than happy to just watch. You guys are better for him in regards to training."

"Uh, guys, I'm teaching a class later, so I'd appreciate a clean dojo." (Y/n) snapped out of her daze and turned to the man in brown with a smile. She gave him a thumbs up, but if the other ninja heard him, they did not make it known as the first thing they did was strike Lloyd who quickly jumped out of their way. Lloyd disarmed Cole almost immediately and started using his scythe to defend himself from Zane, Jay, and Kai. Once he was done deflecting their attacks, he thrust the scythe into the ground and pushed himself up it, using it as a grounds with which he could spin around and (quite literally) walk all over the ninja.
He kicked them all away and Cole landed on Dareth with a grunt before quickly getting back up again to join the fray as he watched Lloyd and Jay square off. The fight was over quickly though as Lloyd kicked him into the trophy case, causing a sudden spike of fear from Dareth.
