Chapter 14

(Y/n)'s POV

"Chaos mode!" Lloyd said, stars in his eyes.

"Nope." (Y/n) stated simply with a smile as she swept up some Great Devourer goo.

"Ummmm...SUPER SPEED MODE!" He tried again, jumping around her excitedly.

"Pffft not happening." She barked out a laugh before starting with the next pile of goo.

"Crystal mode?"

"Nuh-uh."

"Destroyer mode? "

"Nope."

"ARGH! Then what SHOULD we call it then?" Lloyd yelled out, exasperated.

"What are you two up to?" Kai asked, curiously looking between (Y/n) and Lloyd.

"He's been trying to come up with a name for my moments. Apparently, calling them 'moments' isn't cool enough for the ninja of legend." She chuckled as her tail swished gently on the pavement behind her, ignoring the little flares of frustration from Lloyd as she got back to work.

"If you're going to go with a name, it has to be graceful, yet dramatic! Destroyer mode for example is very rough around the edges, you get what I'm saying?" Jay said before yelping and grabbing the pole before it fell on top of Cole and Zane.

"But she destroys things! So Destroyer Mode is accurate!" Lloyd defended himself. (Y/n) sighed as she turned towards him with her hands on her hips.

"Do we need to name it? I don't think it's necessary-"

"But how else do we strike fear into the heart of my father? It could be like a superpower!" Lloyd tried to convince her as little spots of warm hope whirled around him, but (Y/n) only shook her head with a gentle smile.

"Perhaps, but I don't think we need to highlight me any more than we already have." She gently told him and he sighed in defeat.

"She is right, Lloyd. We have more important things to think about outside of scaring your father. Teaching you how to beat him is priority number one." Zane told the green ninja gently, making him pout as he hid his face in one of (Y/n)'s wings, the feathers instinctually relaxing and becoming as soft as rabbit's fur.

"Ugh, finally. All fixed up and Serpentine free." Cole said suddenly with a toothy grin, drawing all of their attention back to the task on hand. Cole and Jay held up the post as they waited for Zane to solder it together. Kai, however, wanted to try to use his powers, but just like every time he's tried since the day the Devourer fell, he had no success once more.

"Aargh. Ugh, this is frustrating." Kai growled as the street sign started to topple over, angry stabs filling the air around him. Jay and Cole started to release spikes of panic, but Kai was so busy ranting he didn't even notice their struggle. "Our weapons are gone and most of our elemental powers are gone. I mean, we can still do Spinjitzu, but..." He tried to activate his powers again, but the only fire available was that which came out of Zane's blowtorch. "I just feel so, I don't know, limited. And thanks to the Devourer, our tank's out of commission, our Dragon's hurt, (Y/n)'s hurt, and now the Bounty is destroyed, we don't even have a place to sleep."

"No one ever said being a hero is easy. Though our good deeds may never make us rich, they make us rich in other ways." Zane said and
(Y/n) nodded in agreement before walking up to Kai, nearly toppling over as she did so, before placing a hand on his shoulder.

"Exactly! Besides, even if things are tough we have each other, and if people try to hurt me even more, I'll just come back stronger than before!" She grinned confidently before yelping as her wings suddenly flared up and nearly threw her onto the ground. Kai quickly grabbed her before she fell and flung her arm over his shoulders whilst she sheepishly laughed. "Sorry Kai, still trying to get the hang of it."
