"Of course he has been." Rafe said in an annoyed tone. "And you're probably going to go out and talk to him."

"Yeah, I am. I have to get him to leave." She said as she quickly got up and threw on some shorts and a big t-shirt, an old one of Rafe's that she stole the morning after midsummer. "He won't go if I don't talk to him."

Rafe shrugged. "He'll go if I talk to him." He said as he buttoned the bottom half of his shirt.

"Yeah, that would go over well." She nodded sarcastically and walked to her balcony, peeking behind the curtain.

"Oh my god, Audrey." Rafe scolded.

Audrey slid between her curtain and the door, and sure enough, there was JJ, leaning against her railing and smoking a joint.

"What are you doing, JJ?" She said in an exasperated way, leaving her door open a crack so that Rafe could hear the conversation and be assured that Audrey didn't want him.

"Are you okay? I thought I heard like... rustling or something." He furrowed his eyebrows.

"Yeah- no- yes. I'm fine." She assured him.

"Do you want any?" He held out the joint and she shook her head no. He put it back to his lips and took a long drag. "Remember when I used to just come up here and wait for you? I spent so much time out here." He laughed.

She nodded in remembrance.

"Do you remember after our first time," her heart felt like it stopped. Rafe could hear every word and this is what JJ decides to talk about? "we came out here and stargazed for hours."

She sighed and cuddled her arms into herself from the cold. "So, what are you doing here?"

"I just... do you remember Rachel? The girl that liked John B?"

"Yes?" She shrugged.

"Well, at the party tonight she was all over me." He explained.

She looked around for anyone that might find that information interesting. "Okay?"

"I don't know... I know that I've flirted with other girls and you've probably flirted with other guys but don't you feel like we sort of left things in the air?"

"JJ, what?" She sighed. "Left what in the air? I thought I made it clear that things were over and we needed space."

"I know. But I'm not sure I understand why?" He tried to explain. "I understand what Kiara did was awful but that was mostly her... not me."

"JJ-"

"No, I know you hate what happened but come on, Audrey." He pleaded. "You're the only person I feel like I can really talk to. You're the only girl I've ever..." she prayed he wouldn't say what she thought he was going to. Fortunately, he didn't. But what he did say was much worse. "You're the only person I've ever loved."

"JJ," She shook her head. "I can't..." she heaved, "I can't keep doing this."

"I didn't mean to make you upset-"

"I'm in a different part of my life than when I was when we first got together." She choked.

He furrowed his eyebrows and exhaled. "What does that mean?"

She shrugged. "That's my nice way of saying that I've moved on from us."

"Is there someone else?" He asked blatantly.

She laughed nervously and contemplated her answer. "What if I said there was?" She asked seriously. He gave her a shocked and disappointed look.

"Are you serious?"
