The night dragged by. Audrey's heart felt like it cracked open and laid heavy in her chest, tears constantly forming in her eyes. She was so confused on why he just left. She thought so many times about reaching out, but she told him that it was his move not hers, so she refrained.
What was he doing? Did he go home? Was he okay?
She understood, but it still broke her heart that he felt like he had to leave and think about if it was worth loving her.
But when morning came, and she had no text from him, her mind couldn't stop over thinking. Would he ever text? When? And when he did, would it be out of love or because he wanted everything to end?
She didn't do much the day after. She waited, and she wondered when she would hear from him. Nathan had come to talk to her, but she wasn't interested. Her mom came too, but she just sat in Audrey's bed and held her while she cried.
Hours inched along, blurring into each other like nothing.
A couple people reached out to her, curious why Rafe was being weird, but she denied everything. She wanted to talk to him before she went to other people.
But morning turned into the afternoon, and she still hadn't heard from him. She could text him... But she told him to reach out. He was the one with the problem, not her.
Afternoon rolled into night, and she contemplated going out. She contemplated getting a drink at the bar, but she didn't look up for it. She looked like she had been crying all day, which she had.
And then all of a sudden it was the next day. She didn't get a wink of sleep that night, why the fuck hadn't he called?
Nathan finally left, Audrey practically refused to talk to him. This whole thing surfaced because of his inability to think Rafe could be a good person.
And that night, she still hadn't heard from Rafe.
She called him around dinner time but it just rang and rang. She didn't want to leave a voicemail.
She called Sarah, who said she had no idea what was going on and to ask Topper.
She nervously found Topper's number and let it ring a couple of times until it picked up.
"What's up?" He asked.
"I was just wondering if you'd heard from Rafe."
She heard him sigh super heavily into the phone. "Yeah. I have."
"Is he okay? What's he doing?" She asked eagerly.
There was a very long pause until she heard the call disconnect, a really bad feeling forming in her stomach.
It wasn't even until the following night that any of her friends reached back out. Sarah said Rafe came home and cried to her, telling her that he'd fucked everything up. Sarah told him to talk to Audrey, but he said that he was too nervous.
Audrey finally told Kelce about it that night, and he told her that they should go out. He said that there was a party at Josh's house and that they should go. He said Audrey needed a drink. He was right.
He came by after dinner time and practically forced her to get dressed. He picked clothes out of your closet and threw them at her as she was laying in her bed. And they took their separate cars because Audrey almost knew that she would wanna leave early. And she was right. The second she walked in and saw Josh approaching. She started walking out.
"Audrey, come on," he spoke but she brushed him away with her hand.
He let it go, and as she made her way to the front door, she saw Kelce sitting on a couch with a couple other random people.
