A/N: hi. I just wanted to say something really quick.

I understand that Audrey is irritating—I get it, I wrote her so that she's kind of a bitch. I'm concerned if y'all think Rafe is in the right because he's quite literally gaslighting her.

Anyway, enjoy the long chapter

Audrey went home the second Kelce and Sarah left the room. She didn't feel like talking with Rafe. Which was fine with him, too.

Evening rolled around, she had dinner with her parents and Nathan, then went back to her room.

She was seriously contemplating going to Kelce's. If it was like all the other times the six of them hangout, Sarah and Topper would go off on their own, Nathan and Kelce would get too wasted to even be able to walk, so Audrey would be stuck alone with Rafe, like always. She wasn't sure she was in the mood for that.

"Audrey!" Nathan called through her door. She closed her book shut and yelled for him to come in. "You ready- wait, what? Why aren't you dressed?"

"I'm not going." She insisted. "Don't feel like it."

"You're sure?" He asked and she hummed a 'yes'. "Alright. Well, I'm going. Let me know if you change your mind."

She nodded and opened her book back up, a signal that the conversation was over.

He closed her door and she heard her phone vibrate a couple times over the next few minutes, but she ignored it all and kept reading. She finally checked it when she had a call coming in.

Rafe was calling, and she leaned back into her bed to answer it, but dropped her phone on her face, somehow declining his call.

"Shit." She whispered. But then he texted:

Pick up the damn phone

He called her once more and she answered with an innocent, "hello?"

"Why the fuck aren't you coming?" It sounded like he was walking urgently, he was breathing heavily.

She sighed and spoke slowly. "I don't know. After what happened this morning and last night I just... I'm not really in a partying kind of mood."

She heard him scoff. "Bullshit. You never turn down a drink."

"Would you stop it with that?" She yelled. "That's not the issue."

"Then what is it?"

"Okay, fine. I didn't want to be around you. Is that what you wanted to hear?"

"Oh, yes. It's like music to my ears." He replied and she heard the ring of a car starting.

"Where are you going?" She asked and sat up a little straighter.

"I'm picking you up." He explained. "Get yourself decent, I'll be there in five minutes."

"No- Rafe. I really don't want to go." She explained. "And even if I did, I wouldn't get in the car with you. You don't seem to be having the best luck with driving today."

"You think you're so funny." He teased her. "I'm on my way. Get dressed."

"I'm not getting in the car with you." She heard him slam the brakes and groan.

"Why do you have to be so difficult all of the time, Audrey?" He sighed and rested his elbow against the door beside him and wiped at his mouth. "This was my way of apologizing. I'm giving you a ride."

"Well, you suck at apologies." She said and lifted her shoulder to help press her phone into her ear while she talked and dug through her closet. "I think we've already established that."
