A few years later...

A firm hand was covered around Shona's eyes, making her pout in response. "You have made me blind for the past few hours." She groaned, making a chuckle escape from Ayaan's throat. He shook his head. She had the talent to make him smile, even in the most nervous situation.

Yes! Ayaan was nervous. The same Ayaan that had claimed a few years back that he was least bothered if the lady standing in front of him was dead or alive. The same Ayaan who had forgotten what a smile felt like, the same Ayaan whose heart was beating fast in nervousness.

"Ayaan..." she whined like a kid.

Ayaan couldn't help the grin spreading in his spirit. The way she called him, the way that word sounded so beautiful coming from her. From his Shona.

"Just wait for a minute," he directed her to take a step forward. "It was you... who demanded a surprise on your birthday so you better shut your mouth."

"Ugh!" She whined again, "can you be a little sweet? At least on my birthday," that complaint made a smile to reach him.

Ayaan didn't respond back as only he was aware of how soft he was when it was about her. The minute they were before the table, he withdrew his hands from her eyes.

Shona took a minute to adjust her eyes towards the brightness surrounding them also trying to depict her location. The minute her sight fell on the table, she widened her orbs in amazement. On the table, several pieces of paper were scattered and they weren't some random papers.

Shona's orbs brimmed with happiness as she extended her hand to touch those familiar sets of papers. Her letters! Her love letters to her soulmate. As the years passed by and she grew old, she had forgotten the existence of those letters mostly because she never found them and she had stopped writing them as she was done with her letters disappearing. It felt like someone was stealing a part of her heart and she wasn't ready to encourage the action.

Her grey hairs were an indication that years had passed by and those papers were growing old with her as well. At corners, it was torn and Shona was scared even to take it in her hand what if she tore that delicate piece of her heart? That paper had turned as fragile as her heart which could easily be destroyed yet one person had taken care of it. That person valued it like a treasure.

Her brimming orbs met with those set of admiring ones. How he never got bored of her was beyond her. She shook her head at the thought. "You were stealing those letters," she attempted to fake anger, but a smile wasn't ready to leave her face.

"Stealing those letters was worth it if I got to see this smile in return." He muttered making her blush and lower her head in shyness.

"Did you drink? Or you don't ever sound this cheesy," her comment made him laugh out loud.

Shona stared at him with eyes sparkling in delight. His laugh was her favorite view ever. Even with those wrinkles and his laugh filled with a mixture of coughs, he looked like the most handsome man ever.

She couldn't believe that she had the life of her dream. She met her soulmate, and her soulmate read those letters addressed to him, he loved reading her blabbers and he kept them safe like a treasure. She did have a happily ever after. Maybe a fairy tale exists because her life was like one of those fairy tales.

*END*

This book is dedicated to my soulmate. (Who might not even exists)

I wanted to write something short and sweet, so a book filled with letters. It turned out bigger than planned but also the shortest book of mine so far.

I enjoyed writing about Shona and Ayaan. They were adorable.
