"Jake ?"

"Yeah Maddie ?"

"Did that boy hurt Love last night ?"

"No Mads he didn't hurt her but he did something he shouldn't have. He made her cry"

"He hurt her feelings ?"

"Exactly"

"Are you going to hurt his feelings back ?"

Hmmmm.

"Why'd you ask that ?" I raise an eyebrow.

"Because I heard you beat up Alex when he was being mean" She says blatantly.

I paused for a second before answering. I knew she heard it but I wanted to deny that she did.

"I'm not gonna hurt his feelings alright ?" I'm gonna hurt his face.

"Are you sure ?"

"I'm positive...." I think. "But if anybody ever hurts your feelings you come and tell me okay ?"

"Okay. Hey, why are your arms so big ?" She sat up, rubbing my arms and squeezing them.

"I don't know, I guess I'm just really strong"

"Yeah that's why you can pick me up"

"It sure is"

"What's in that black box over there ?" She points to a safe that I bought a year ago. I took out last night and forgot to put it back up.

"Nothing special. Hey how about we go get some ice cream and go see Love ?"

"Yes" She says happily before running off to get her shoes.

I called her when I woke up but she didn't answer and her location app shows that she's been at home all day. We haven't talked at all today but it's because she hasn't responded. I know she likes to be alone when she isn't herself but I can't handle not seeing her for that long.

"I hear you're going to see Mani"

"Yeah, she's not feeling too well. I'm gonna take her some food and ice cream and maybe try to get her out the house."

"Here, buy her a card and some flowers and tell her we hope she feels better." He pulled out his wallet from his pocket and began pulling out cash.

"Dad, I can buy my girlfriend flowers."

"Would you get yourself together ? Your mother and I want to get her something nice in hopes that she feels better aren't you buying her food ?"

"Yeah but she's MY girlfriend dad"

"Doesn't that make her my daughter ?"

"Don't go all 'in-law' with me buy your own girl some flowers man"

"Alright then get two while you're there and make sure they don't die before you get them back. Thank you, send Mani our love." He placed the money on my nightstand and walked out.
