How can you deny Allah? You were lifeless and He gave you life, then He will cause you to die and bring you to life again , and then to Him you will (all) be returned.
(Quran 2:28)
🥀
Throbbing pain hitting her head as she stirs, she can't move a limb. It feels as though she's trapped. Opening her heavy lids she looks around, the room is dull and dusty, the only source of light are the windows. There's a rugged mat, furniture here and there, the door seems a mile away. She gathers no strength to reach it, her memory currently an abstract, it takes few minutes for her to register what has happened.
She remembers walking to the mortuary, submitting thesis and meeting Saraswati. They planned on leaving together, but as they were walking towards the highway , a frightening scene unfolded before them.
It didn't take long for them to realize the abduction of a girl. For a first timer to this situation it is given anybody would've stayed rooted their place, so did they for a while until Saraswati shook Noor, telling her that they need to report and run.
While they turn to leave, the crushing of leaves underneath their feet catch the man's attention and before they could comprehend, they find him running towards them.
Holding hands and running both drew their phones out, while one called the police, the other thought of calling a family member.
However, they couldn't make it out and fell to the ground when someone from behind obstructed their airway with a cloth.
All this while she keeps thinking, why on earth is the mortuary away from the city. She sighs and stirs.
"Noor! " she hears Saraswati whisper. "Are you awake now?"
Struggling, Noor manages to turn to her, their hands and legs tied. She winces in pain feeling the blood oozing from her hands.
"Let's not struggle, Noor."
"How long have we been like this? "
"Maybe half an hour? I don't know."
"Mobile? "
"Nowhere to be found. Yours?"
She searches, a displeased look surfaces.
"Saras.. How about we help each other sit? Perhaps we could untie ourselves."Trying to move, "this'll take time.. "
As they try to move towards each other, they hear footsteps of someone coming their way. Without a word, thoughtlessly they rush back to their position and close their eyes. Their hearts hammering against their chests, their physical pain cannot be compared to the amount of fear bottling inside. In this silent room, even their breaths feels foreign.
