Surely those who say, "Our Lord is Allah," and then remain steadfast-there will be no fear for them, nor will they grieve.
(Quran 46:13)

"Noor, this news about Shadow is terrifying. Depart early from the hospitals, ideally before magrib. At least till he's caught."
Nodding she sits beside Asad, greeting her uncle Irfaan, who arrived in the morning.
"Seems like he's the 'happening topic' everywhere."
"His crimes are ruthless."
Irfaan rests back on the sofa, thinking, "I know Asad but do you realize the crime rate has decreased drastically. As if, if someone had to do anything they would fear being killed by Shadow."
"I get all that but that's not the right way. 'An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind.' There are legal procedures, there's police, law and order.
At the end of the day, regardless of his intention, he's a criminal. An underground lunatic. And as far as I know, if he gets caught, he'll be sentenced to death or maybe shot at the spot.""There are loopholes that cannot be filled at times, the world needs a villain for a villain. Now that's beside the fact that he has turned into the society's dark hero."
"This new generation just keeps romanticizing such upheavals."
Irfaan laughs it off, engaging Asad in another political issue.
Noor looks between them, her gaze then stops at Dawood, busy arranging his clothes in the suitcase, unaware of him being the topic of discussion. The night was tormenting and dark despite the enlightening moments between them, she couldn't get a wink of sleep. All she did was think of the future and look at her husband sleeping who is yet heedless of her unsuspecting cognizance.
Does she have to report to the police or stay silent?
If she decides to remain silent, he'll just add more deeds to his book. And if he's really caught, how will she live?Asad looks into the kitchen, Sadia again busy cooking. He hears her chop the vegetables.
"Are you still awestruck by your wife Asad?"Noor suddenly looks at Irfan, bemused at what he stated.
When the chopping halts, they hear the drop of the knife. Asad watches her rush to keep her finger under the running tap water. He walks towards her, urging her to sit on a chair. He searches the cabinets, taking a band aid he sits in front, blowing on the wound, he wraps the band on her finger.
"Twenty five years of marriage and you still manage to chop your fingers off."
