Tommy would admire Barney everyday. Barney Peanuts is a boy at the lodging house Tommy just arrived at, and as soon as he laid his eyes on him, Tommy couldn't stop. Barney put on little shows which Tommy would watch from his bed. His copper brown hair and green eyes made Tommy weak, and his smile and freckles almost killed him. His enthusiasm and a stage presence, he could go on. He found himself blushing, hand on cheek, just watching him, selling newspapers, practicing juggling, talking to other newsies. Tommy has never been in a relationship before, he doesn't speak much and lived his entire life in an orphanage so far, where all he did was lay in bed and hide from the other kids. But when he joined the lodging house, he noticed alot of the newsies were dating, either eachother or other newsies from different boroughs or other people. He sometimes felt alittle envious, but knew who would never get that feeling, he's terrified of everyone he meets and also, he just isn't the type people fall for. But something about that cutie acrobat that just melted his heart and gave him alittle hope.

"Hey, Buttons, did you manage to fix my shirt?" Barney asked. He almost appeared out of nowhere while Buttons was talking to Tommy, who was paying him back for fixing a tear in his hat. Tommy tries his best to hide behind Buttons without making it obvious.
"Oh yeah, I've got it here." Buttons moved to get his shirt for him, revealing Tommy behind him. Tommy looked down to avoid eye contact to not make it obvious he was a blushing mess, but when he looked up for a slight second, Barney made eye contact with him and gave him the sweetest smile, leaving Tommy to look back dow, almost completely red. When Barney got his shirt, he payed Buttons and got back to his bed. As soon as Tommy payed and left.

Days later, Jojo was sitting on his bed talking to Mike. Tommy tapped him on the shoulder, "Jojo, can I speak to you...um...privately?"
"Sure." Jojo smiled, looking at Mike, signalling him to leave. Mike was alittle pouty, but he kissed Jojos cheek and left.
"What is it?" Jojo asked sweetly,
"I really like someone, a guy... and he's so sweet and cute and special and I really wish I wasn't the way I am because I really want to ask him out but I can't." Tommy is both shy and introverted, but worse of all is his social anxiety. He believes that everyone is out to get him, and hates him, and is making fun of everything he does. He's had panic attacks in the past because of it and the only people he's managed to trust so far are Jack, Jojo and Henry.
"Oh," Jojo said, alittle shocked, "I didn't know you wanted a boyfriend."
"I-..." Tommy thought for a second, "I just...I like him alot..."
"Thats so cute." Jojo smiled, "Who is it? Do I know them?"
"Um..." Tommy was hesitant because he hasn't told anyone yet, but he shyly, subtlely said, "Barney Peanuts."
Jojo gasped in excitement, followed by panicked Tommy quickly shushing him, "You need to talk to him." Jojo said, as a matter of fact.
"That's why I was wondering if you could help me with that."
"Oh dear, Tommy, I'm not the best at relationship things..."
"But your dating Mike."
"Yeh, it took us a while to get where we are now. You should ask Henry, he's dating someone."
"Yeah, but for all we know that person could be a sewage rat."
Jojo laughed, "Ok, but I do think he's your best bet."
"...fine..." Tommy mumbled.

Jojo smiled and called Henry over, when Henry arrived, Jojo caught him up, "So, Tommy likes someone and we need your advise on it."
"Oh ok, who is it?"
Tommy was about to answer, but Jojo interupted, "Only if you tell us who your sweetheart is."
"Not happening."
"So close." Jojo mumbled.
Tommy laughed a little and said, "It's Barney."
"Ok, so do you know what your gonna say to him?"
"I don't know...I mean, what if he hates me."
"Tommy he won't hate you." Jojo sighed, Henry nodded in agreement.
"I don't know that...actually, I have no idea how he feels about me. I've never spoken to him."
"Then how do you know you like him?" Henry asked,
"Well, everything I know about him I really like admire...I guess that makes me want to know him better."
"Well, I suggest we find out how he feels about you. Not ask him directly, but bring it up casually, so that it opens up conversation for him to know you better, and if you play your cards right enough, he might realise he likes you back, if not, there are plenty of fish in the sea and he just wasn't the right one."
