Why they scabbed hc:

Tommy Boy
He was first to fold because he actually didn't want to scab, he was just afraid of the strike, scared to lose money and scared or the goons and cops, but Jacks speech inspired him. Barney Peanuts wasn't part of the strike because during this time he was able to visit his parents for the last time until their 5 year tour. Tommy can't read so writing letters was out of the picture, so Tommy was already in a very sad position of losing his boyfriend and shut everyone out, causing him to lose loyalty and scab. (I love how also in newsies live, while all the newsies look pissed at Tommy, Henry and Jojo are just disappointed, proves my Jojo, Henry and Tommy are besties head cannon)

Kid Blink:
I love Blink with all my heart, especially the newsies live Blink. Blinks main fear was the fear of starving, I haven't thought much about his backstory but I do hc that he's a very rational person that thinks more about the present then the future. So when Jack is like: Let's strike, he's like: hell no. It's always been a fear of his to just not have enough money for the necessities, like clothes or food. When he joined the strike he actually cried because he wanted to support his friends but he was so afraid of the future, panicking as every last of his penny's slowly was spent. It was a close call because 4 days before they won, Blink ran out of money and was so scared he actually started pick pocketing, and he was so hungry he almost didn't finish the strike. Meanwhile, Mushs comforting him and offering to buy him food if he was hungry but Blink refused.

Sniper: (tw: abuse)
I haven't really written anything about Sniper but he does have a very abusive father: "my father is going to kill me anyway" it's clear that he is forced to work. There's newsies like Albert who also has to work for his family, but his dad never even asked him too, he just really wants to support his family.
I would imagine Snipers family has enough to support on their own, maybe alittle tight, but they actually pulled him out of school to make money. So he was too scared to join the strike because of what his father going to say, eventually he ran away though.
