Is it ok to ship a character with an oc?

There's a character (I won't say who) but I've noticed they're not really shipped with anyone so I made an oc to ship with them 😭
However I don't know if that's OK to add in my one-shot
I'm always free to write in other ppls oc but it feels selfish to do my own, if anyone has an answer tell me x
