(Tw forbdeaths, this is super angst, I might make a part two)

7 year old Mike and Ike were at the dinner table, not getting along. Ike flicked the back of his brothers ear. "Ow- mom, Isaac hurt me!" Mike whined
"You're such a baby." Ike mumbled, doing it again.
"Stop!" Mike grabbed on to Ikes hair angrily, "Mom! Get him off of me!"
"The both of you stop," Their mother sternly said, removing Mike's hand gently, "Isaac, stop pestering your brother and Micheal, if he's bothering you that's on him, grabbing his hair makes you just as guilty. Now eat your vegetables."
Mike started eating, but Ike sulked and mumbled, "I don't wanna eat them gross vegetables."
"Isaac, you're gonna eat them vegetables," His dad ordered, "I know alot of young kids that would love a meal like this."
"Them give it to them cause I'm not eating them."
Mike smiled, "I'm eating mine."
"That's cause your a slug." Ike said.
"Isaac, stop, I swear one day you boys are gonna be thankful you have eachother." Their mother sighed.
"Never." Ike frowned.
"Yeah, I hate him." Mike followed, Ike nodding in agreement.
"You don't mean that." Their father said.
But Mike swore he did, and Ike too, they don't get along. Everyday is squabble after squabble:
"Mom! Isaac stole my drawing!"
"Dad! Micheal is breathing on me!"
It's non stop.

That night, their mother tucked them into bed. "I love you mom." Mike smiled as she kissed his forehead. "I love you too, darling."
Then she went to Ikes bed and tucked him in, "Sleep tight, honey, I love you."
"I love you too, mom." Ike yawned and got comfy in bed. Their mom left and the twins fell asleep. Later on that night, Ike woke up to a smash from a downstairs window. He woke up instantly, clinging onto his blanket. He quickly went over to Mike and woke him up, "Micheal! Micheal-"
"What?" Mike asked, waking up in alittle panic.
"Did you hear that?" Ike asked, sitting on his bed.
"Hear what?" Mike was confused. Ike looked at his brother and took his hand and crept out of their bedroom. The hallway was dark, but Ike struggled to breath, as Mike coughed, "Is that smoke?" Mike asked.
"I think so..." Ike whispered as they got to the stairs. Going down, there's even more smoke and they're both coughing like crazy.
"Isaac? Do you see anything?"
"No-" But Ike stopped as he crept closer and saw his kitchen was in flames, he heard crackling and felt the heat of the fire. He instantly grabbed Mike's arm and ran to their parents bedroom and knocked on the door in a panic.
"Mom! Dad! There's a fire! Fire!"
Mike was confused because didn't see the fire so he went back to the stairs, but by then it had spread to the downstairs hallway, he screamed in fear, "Mommy!" Finally, their dad opened the door, his dad quickly rushing to the stairs as their mom picked up crying Ike to comfort, holding his head against her shoulders as she ran with her husbands to the stair.
Their dad picked up equally distraught Mike, "We need to get out of here, now!"
"There's no way we can get to the door!" Their mom cried, holding her son close. She was right, the door was completely surrounded by fire. Their dad thought what to do, before putting Mike down and signalling their mother to put Ike down, as they kneeled down to their sons, "Ok, boys, listen carefully, you're mother and I will try and get the neighbours attention I want you both to run to the basement!"
Their mother nodded, but Mike and Ike cried begging, "No- please don't leave us-" Mike cried. Their parents tearfully embraced them, "You have to, darling, it's the only way we'll know you'll be safe." They mother sobbed.
"We'll come collect you after, the basement is made out of concrete so the fire won't spread."
"Then come with us, dad, please." Ike sniffled, not wanting to lose his parents.
"No, we need to try and get help, you have eachother, keep eachother close. We love you both so much." They hold eachother close, their mother and father kiss their forehead before leave to their window to call for their neighbours. Ike watched as his parents leave, he freezes, terrified of the fire underneath, unable to move. Mike grabs his hand, and pulls him downstairs, "Come on, let's do what they said."
Ike nodded sadly. They do their best to avoid the flames, and cover their face as they get to the basement door and get inside. They were about to go down the stairs when Mike heard his mother scream. He instantly paused and call out, "Mom!" Ike goes back to him, "We need to go!"
Mike sobbed, "I want to see mom."
"We'll see her later," Ike comforted him, taking him down the stairs, "I promise."

The two hold eachother close as they heard their house fall apart above them. Ike grips onto his brother, "I'll protect you, I promise I'll protect you." Hes the oldest, so it made it his job to make sure his brother is safe and comforted. Eventually, they shut their eyes tight and forget everything that happens next. The next thing they knew, they were on the street, surrounded by people as they saw their destroyed house. They cam only hear what people saying around them:
"Those poor kids, both parents...gone..."
"Don't they have any other family?"
"Both parents were only children so no aunts or Uncles and no alive grandparents."
"Poor things, they now only have eachother."
"We need to find them a place to stay."
"The only orphanage with space only has one spot free."
"But there's two."
"We know, I think the best bed is to send one of them to the refuge until-"
"No!" Ike yelled, "You're not taking my brother away from me!"
A lady came over and held his shoulders, "Honey, it's the only way-"
"I SAID NO." He kicked her. Instantly, a man grabbed him, "This one will do fine at the refuge, take the other one to the orphanage."
"Isaac!" Mike cried as another man grabbed him started separating the two. That did it, Ike punched the man who had him in the nose and got free, he kicked the man who took Mike and helped him get free, before grabbing his brothers arm as they ran away.
They kept on running and running before they found themselves in central Manhatten, every they hid out in an allyway. It was dark and they were both so scared. But Ike sat down and kept his brother close as they both cried, "I want my mom." Mike sobbed.
"I know." Ike comforted him. From this day on, no-one is ever going to hurt his little brother, and no-one is ever going to separate them. They'll always be together.
