After dinner the three snuggled up on the couch together. The horror movie Y/N was so excited for wouldn't start for half an hour still, but she was already happily munching popcorn, all the while ignoring Ace's complaints.

He had given in to her and Eyeball's begging to let her watch with them, but that didn't mean he had to like it. If she got scared by the movie it'd be him who would have to suffer for it, because then she would certainly come crawling into his bed when she found she couldn't sleep or got a nightmare.

She didn't tend to get scared easily, though, so there was still hope.

What bothered him a lot more was the alarmingly fast rate at which the popcorn was disappearing into her mouth. If she kept that up there wouldn't be any left by the time the movie finally started, and in his opinion the documentary about dinosaurs that was currently on screen wasn't nearly exciting enough to warrant such an extensive consumption of their precious snack.

His boyfriend wasn't being helpful either, on the contrary, he kept eating popcorn too, only stopping occasionally to look at the black paint covering his nails and brush his fingertips over them to feel the texture.

"Will you two stop eating all the popcorn already?! We just had dinner, you can't be that hungry!"

When Eyeball just shrugged and Y/N ignored Ace altogether he saw himself forced to take more drastic measures to make the popcorn last until the movie started. Snatching the bowl out of his sister's grasp he jumped up from the couch and quickly placed it on top of a nearby shelf.

Just in time. He'd barely let go of it when Y/N was already by his side, rising onto her tippy toes in hopes of reaching it.

She couldn't.

When she realized that she turned to glare at her brother.

"Ace! Why would you do that?! Give the popcorn back!"

Ace didn't even dream of doing so. "I'll give it back when the movie starts, and not a second sooner."

"Why?!"

"Cause otherwise you'll eat all of it now."

"We can just make more! Or get other snacks for the movie! I want my popcorn! Now!"

"Too bad for you." Ace patted her head and went back to the couch, leaving her to fruitlessly jump up and down in an attempt of reaching the top shelf.

"Richie!"

"Sorry, Princess, no can do. Ace is the boss."

Y/N stomped her foot. "No! I'm the boss! Get our popcorn back!"

He glanced at Ace, clearly considering to indulge her wishes, but Ace knew exactly how to prevent that.

"If you do that I'm not cuddling with you tonight. And you can forget the reward I promised you earlier, too."

Eyeball stayed where he was.

"Reward?" Y/N repeated. "What reward? Don't tell me he's getting another serving of pudding and I'm not!"

"No, Y/N. Not everything is about pudding. And we don't even have any left."

That only served to alarm her even more. "You mean we're out of pudding?! That's horrible, Ace!"
