You leant back against the seat of Ace's car and groaned. "I shouldn't have eaten that last slice of pizza."
Eyeball on your right made a sympathetic noise. "What am I supposed to say, I ate one more than you."
"Yeah, but you're bigger than me."
Ace started the car.
"You're both idiots. Just stop eating when you're full, how about that?"
"And let the poor pizza go to waste?"
"We could have taken the rest home and ate it tomorrow, Richie."
"Too late," you said, and Eyeball burped. You took that as agreement.
"You're idiots," Ace repeated.
"And yet you're dating us."
He sighed. "Yeah... It seems I have a soft spot for idiots."
"If you call us idiots one more time I'll make you eat a whole chocolate cake for dessert so you'll feel just as bad as us."
"It's 11 in the night, doll, where the fuck do you wanna get a cake from at this time?"
"Shut up."
"I'm just saying."
"Shut up!"
Ace shrugged and turned up the radio, filling the car with the sound of Elvis going on about a hardheaded woman being the thorn in the side of men. If you weren't such a fan of the guy you might have taken personal offense.
You leant your head on Ace's shoulder and Eyeball scooted closer too, leaning against you and wrapping his arms around you to rub your tummy.
Once you got to Ace's place you instantly curled up on his bed.
"Aww, does poor baby have a tummy ache 'cause she ate too much pizza?" Eyeball mocked—and laid down next to you, mirroring your position.
You went to answer, but instead of words all that left your mouth was a hiccup.
You cursed. "Okay, which of you assholes gave me the hiccups?!"
Ace raised an eyebrow at you. "You can't give someone hiccups."
"Yes you can. My mom *hicc* always used to say when you get hiccups that means someone thought of you while kissing someone else. So, which of you *hicc* thought of me while you kissed?"
You had seen them kiss while you laid down. You crossed your arms over your chest and glared at them as they slowly both raised a hand.
"Wow. *hicc* Thanks a lot, guys. And where's my kisses, huh?"
"God, you're so childish," Ace complained, but even as he rolled his eyes at you he sat down beside you and gave you a kiss.
Eyeball hugged you from behind. "If I kiss you and think of Ace, will that take your hiccups and give them to him instead?"
"Dunno. Let's try."
Before Ace had a chance to protest your lips met Richie's, and you concentrated all your willpower on giving your hiccups to Ace.
"Did it wor– *hicc* Fuck!"
Your blond boyfriend had the audacity to laugh at your misery. "Looks like you'll have to find another way to get rid of them, Darling. I could try scaring you if you'd like."
"I hate you."
He knew damn well that method didn't work, at least not on you.
"Hold you breath as long as you can," your other boyfriend suggested.
"That doesn't *hicc* work!"
"It can't hurt to try."
"Ugh, fine."
You held your breath, but even as you did so you hiccuped again.
"Goddamn it!"
You mentally went through all the things were supposed to help with hiccups, trying to remember if any of them had ever worked on you. It had been an eternity since you'd last had the hiccups, you couldn't even remember when it had been.
What you knew for sure were the things that didn't work. Getting scared, holding your breath, downing a glass of water. Doing a handstand was out of the question after you'd eaten so much. The only other thing you could think of was trying to hiccup on purpose. Could that have been what worked?
"Maybe you–"
"Shh! Lemme *hicc* concentrate."
"On what?"
"Getting rid of these *hicc* fucking hiccups."
After a few seconds Ace asked, "Did it work?"
You waited a moment longer before answering, "I think so. Yeah."
"How did you do that?"
"With my secret anti-hiccup magic that I will not share with you."
