(Home by Cavetown - for those of you who prefer music without lyrics in the background, the first link is the instrumental version and the second is the original - for some reason this song just really reminds me of our Sebastian :)

It was as if his soul was burning for mine and mine his.

Life felt impossibly far away as our kiss deepened. My hands worked into the hair on the back of his head, threading through each strand and pulling gently.

I felt Sebastian smile into the kiss.

My belly flip flopped all over again.

His lips so soft, caressing my heart and sewing our souls together.

When it felt as if the air had been completely swallowed up, we pulled back for a moment, only an inch or two apart.

Sebastian's thumb absentmindedly running over the center of my bottom lip, pulling it gently as he watched, his breathing still unsteady and his shoulders shuttering.

His eyes flitted up to mine and his words came out breathy.

"Merlin, Atley... I've been wanting to do that for so long."

My heart stutter stepped over my breathing.

I brought one of my hands up to his cheek, tracing over the freckles peppering his skin as if I could count each one. He closed his eyes as I brushed over his nose and back over his cheek. He smiled at my touch.

"I'm so glad you did."

He hummed and leaned in again, slower this time, savoring the taste of my lips.

The night was ours.

The glowing flower buds around us swayed gently in the cool breeze and for the first time in a long time,

I felt like I was home.

As if home wasn't a place to be shared

but a heart.

It was my turn to smile against his lips and it only seemed to fuel the fire. He pressed his right hand against the back of my neck, pulling gently as if I could get any closer. I tilted my head feeling his breath warm against my skin as his kisses traveled down.

Over my jawline

behind my ear

down my neck

over my collarbone.

My breathing hitched and he pulled back, lids heavy and a grin spread across his entire face.

"Miss Barlowe, you're a neck girl aren't you?"

I bit my lower lip and smiled.

"You'll have to find out sometime won't you Sallow?" I winked and stood up from our spot in the field, the grass now trampled down from our bodies.

I reached down and brought my bag up and over my shoulder before reaching a hand out to a groaning Sebastian.

"I should have kissed you a long time ago."

All I could do was grin and wiggle my fingers in his direction, letting the heat flush my cheeks.

He pressed his hand into mine but instead of using it to haul himself up, he twisted my palm until the top of my hand was upright and placing a gentle kiss against it. He smiled toothily as he looked up at me through his brows.

"Do we have to leave just yet?" His eyes pleaded. "Can't we just sit- for a bit?"

I hesitated. I wasn't sure how much time had passed while we were in the trial. Surely the sun would be rising soon? We didn't even know exactly where we were, we had to find the broom, we had to fly back, I had to report back to Professor Rakham and Professor Fig-

Oh but the way he was looking at me.

"Please darling? Just a few moments more? Just us."

I felt my heart agree before the word formed on my tongue.

"Ok..."

His smile brighter than even the moon in the sky. He pulled my hand and I tumbled forward into him. His hands caught me just above his chest as his back pressed into the grass.

"That's my girl."

He kissed me again and then rolled me into the spot in the grass to his right, the blades tickling the back of my neck. He held himself above my body, hands on either side of my head supporting his weight and he just watched me, smiling gently.

He leaned down and pressed a soft kiss to my forehead before rolling back over into his spot on his back.

The purples and blues and whites of the flowers danced a few inches above our faces, calling to the leaves of the trees overtop. They, in turn, swayed gently in the breeze - slivers of moon and starlight slipping through the cracks and soothing the slight flog that had collected at the edges of the field.

My left pinky warmed as Sebastian wound his small finger around it.

And we lay like that, pinkys and hearts entwined,

lost in our moment of eternity,

forgetting the cruelty of life,

forgetting the holes in our hearts,

and letting our breaths combine with our silent smiles.

Sebastian's voice deep and hushed as he spoke towards the stars above us.

"Thank you."

I squeezed his finger unsure if his words were directed to me or the universe but loving them all the same.
