Me and the Devil: Sebastian Sallow

PRE-READING NOTES

Me and the Devil is based loosely around the storyline and Sebastian's quest line in Hogwarts Legacy the video game. While I do not wish to bore those who have already played the game and know the main character's backstory, I want to include the below notes for those who don't know and do not mind spoiling the entire storyline of Hogwarts Legacy for themselves. I will ALSO be adding my own changes including aging the characters up - in the game, the main character and all of her friends are fifth year students at Hogwarts, but in Me and the Devil, Atley, Sebastian, Ominis and the others in their year are seventh year students and 18 years old.

Here is your last warning that the story you are about to read will contain major game spoilers!

I hope you continue reading and love it - as stated in the book description, please feel free to read the story as if it is your character's story instead of Atley's - I know Sebastian is a cutie and diving further into this world is incredibly tempting. Especially since the game lacks that little bit of romance we so crave. ;)

One more little tidbit - this work has NOT been edited yet so you will most definitely find grammar / spelling errors. Hopefully there are not a ton, but wanted to give you a heads up. I'm only human! <3

Without further ado, here is a quick summary of everything that has come to pass before the beginning of this fic - the story itself starts on the next "chapter".

Atley Barlowe is an 18 year old witch who is just starting at Hogwarts as a seventh year in 1890. She has spent the previous summer studying immensely, training rigorously and getting as caught up as possible with the help of Professor Fig - a kind and gentle soul who has taught her everything she knows about the magical world.

The day she is to start at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and wizardry, professor Fig collects her in a thestral drawn carriage along with George Osric - a high-ranking Ministry of Magic official. During the ride, Osric unveils Professor Fig's late wife had been in contact with him about a rather dangerous goblin, Ranrok, and had sent him a peculiar canister he could not open. Atley, upon seeing the canister, notices that she can see a glow that no one else can. As she holds it, the canister opens to her touch and reveals a key. Before the trio is able to take a closer look, their carriage is attacked by a rouge dragon with a glowing red collar around its neck. Osric is killed in the process and Professor Fig and Atley only narrowly escape by grabbing hold of the key which thankfully turns out to be a portkey.

They are transported to a strange island and a large broken and abandoned home in which the two uncover a hidden passageway only Atley seems to be able to see and access. Upon stepping through, Professor Fig and Atley find themselves at Gringotts Wizarding Bank - a secret and private entrance. The key from the carriage canister is used to unlock an extremely old vault. Once the two step in, they are promptly sealed inside as per the "instructions for this vault" by the Gringotts goblin who guided them there. Inside, Atley discovers yet another hidden entrance and the two embark on a number or terrifying challenges including fighting off some terribly strong stone knights and discovering Atley has a connection to ancient magic - the glow she has been able to see but no one else around her has been able to. It is here that Fig and Atley cross paths with Ranrok - the dangerous and powerful goblin who has a deep hatred for wizarding kind. He is after whatever was in this particular vault. After narrowly escaping, Professor Fig and Atley follow one more ancient magic door and end up on the grounds of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Quickly shuffling inside, Atley is sorted into her Hogwarts house - Gryffindor - and her journey at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry begins.

Me and the Devil starts around one month after her arrival at the school but then bounces back one month to a little after she begins school in the second chapter. (Think of this first chapter as a sneak peek of the chaos to come) ;)
