(Lily's Theme - Alexandre Desplat)

It seemed a twisted sort of poetic that I, the one responsible for Anne's cursed life, was also the one responsible for her death.

My stomach twisted around emptiness, gaging me, choking me, suffocating me as I heaved on nothing. My bones felt not my own, my consciousness high above my body, whispering through the clouds of smoke and ash.

The prickle of reds and oranges glinted below the black soot around us like burning stars, flickering and calling out to the air before shriveling away. Leaving us one by one in an empty galaxy.

Sebastian's sobs had turned silent. His mouth hung open and eyes slammed shut as he cried hard. The only sound the tortured intake of breath, the strain of his lungs. His fingers fisted around his sister's arms, buried deep within the fabric. He had pulled her to his chest, head against hers. One of her hands hung limply to the dirt and soot.

Through the pain, my mind collected itself around our new reality. A reality where Sebastian would stop eating, stop sleeping, stop caring. His love for me would shatter and though the guilt of my actions would nearly kill me, the misery and suffering of a life without him would be my death.

Ominis would disappear back to the shadows, a silent soul once more.

I'd be all alone again.

And in a merciful world, it would kill me.

Ominis had fought through his labored breathing and crawled directly to Anne's side, tears staining his pale eyes red.

Sebastian didn't seem to notice as Ominis pressed his hand against Anne's arm, winding down gently and grasping her wrist.

His forehead fell down to hers.

For only a moment before it shot back upright.

His lips shifted, forming the words over and over before they finally crept free.

"A p-p-pulse!"

What?

"I feel it! She- oh Anne!" Ominis trailed his fingers up her skin, pausing two against her neck and nodding frantically again, salted tears coating his lips and dripping against his teeth. "Anne! I feel you! I-"

Sebastian's hoarse voice echoed painfully. "She's g-" He choked. "She's fucking gone Ominis."

My aching heart felt incapable of hope.

I stood frozen, doubled over and clutching my stomach.

"No Sebastian. I can feel it. Incredibly faint but- but it is there. She's- she's- she's. Oh Merlin we have to do something." His small grin melted to a puddle beneath our bodies. "We have to- we have to- we have to-." His trembled thoughts pounded against my skull.

None of us had Wiggenweld.

None of us knew any proper charms.

Magic travel would likely be too difficult in her state.

She couldn't have much time left.

Couldn't have much life left.

Her body nearly given up already, blank eyes up, no doubt in so much pain.

So much pain

pain

Isidora grinned behind my eyes.
