"I'm happy you and I talked this out, Mekena, for good reason....since we know it keeps the lot of us happy"
Denzel stated as he and the pack leader of the Brybon's step out of the room to show off their understandings becoming stronger to the rest of the hyena's-who were more surprised than anything.
"Well...surly you've made yourself clear to me and as long as that's said, you have my word we'll allow you to operate in peace"
Mekena said this portion loud enough for the rest of the clan to know while walking Denzel out of the manor
"Heh eheh ah hah..."
The lady hyena unintentionally chuckles as she speaks again
"Sorry about the trouble we gave your little one-to be Frank we mostly hate his parents"
"Ain't jumpin the gun to defend those dirt pickers, just the innocence of my family is worth savin'"
The rodent extended his hand for a shake and the hyena snickers as she gladly shakes his hand
"Answer me this, Denzel"
The rodent gazed at the other while awaiting her response, she gave it once she knew she had his full attention
"Mitch left without so much as a word, awfully unlike him with the time we've shared...if you care about love like you say you do, I'm sure you'll understand how worried I must be"
The hyena tried to be polite but that grouchy southern accent broke through like a kick to a doorknob.
Denzel released her hand and the rodent sighed as he broke eye contact briefly
"Truthfully ma'am I-"
The rodent fakes being ashamed as he further explains
"I couldn't tell if I could trust you-Mitch is a close friend of mine and I wanted him to be safe in case things went bad between you and me...or worse considering you don't like us chipmunks very much in the first place"
Mekena listened but only wanted to know about where Mitch was
"Well we've talked that over now...where's he?"
"He will be back in a few days, I assure you that"
Denzel puts his arms halfway up to ease her a bit
"He was very sad to leave, trust me ma'am, he likes ya"

[Chapter 28: Polished Affection]
The Campsite
While it's been mostly quiet since last night the event left some on edge and others questioning other's reliability to the family they've unknowingly created.
Calico, very quickly reminded everyone of his intolerance over the yellow hedgehog, Sunny for repeatability showcasing his ability to be absolutely useless when it came to the fight and prone to getting friends hurt-possibly killed had not been for the overwhelming majority that are willing to fight.
Sunny and Calico argued relentlessly but never actually came to blows-the younger audience only could sit and watch since that had no reason to step in if it hasn't gotten outta hand.
Both made some valid points but since Calico's fighter's spirit appealed to most of the heads within the gang-majority saw Calico as their voice of reason and Sunny as the voice of a stupid yellow bellied idiot.
Though a handful thought differently- nothing was made clear since the only ones shouting back and forth were the feline and the hedgehog.
Eventually the two cooled off but Calico getting the last words, with Sunny brushing the feline off as he reaches for his flask.
The tension between the folks in the gang only made things worse in the long run and unfortunately it didn't seem like the people cared much for mending any disagreements.
