Fears and Courage

Elizabeth's POV

Robbie and I arrived at Scarlett's place around 4:12am. Evans was right behind us in, what I assume, is a rental car. Robbie was driving and I was on the phone with Chris. We entered the parking lot and not even five seconds in we saw her. "What the hell happened?" my husband asked knowing he wouldn't receive an answer. "Oh my god" was all I said as we approached Scarlett. She had on the same clothes from that same day but this time her shirt had red stains, stains that apparently came from her because her nose was covered in what seemed like dry blood. She looked like she had been crying for hours. And the poor thing was shaking nonstop. As soon as Robbie stopped the car, I got out and ran up to her and hugged her. Scarlett just sobbed in my shoulder. Chris came running too when he saw her, "What happened?? Did he do this to you? I'll kill him" a very angry Chris said. Instead of helping, Scarlett entered into a panic mode, thinking Chris would go and see Colin. I just looked at Chris and said "Not now. We need to get her out of here". I saw Robbie take his sweater off and give it to Scar. My husband just looked as terrified as I was due to the scene where were witnessing. Chris realized his best friend needed him and decided to help us get her in our car. We left the building with Evans behind us. But before we had quickly decided to go back to my sister's place since Robbie and I were staying with them that night. I knew they would be shocked since they didn't know about Colin's behavior but I also knew if someone could help and would keep things discreet, it would be them.

When we arrived in my sisters' place Robbie and I took Scarlett to the living room to sit down while Chris when to the fridge for some ice for Scarlett's nose, and then to the bathroom for the first aid kit. In the mess of it all, my sisters woke up, of course. "What's going on? It's 4 in the morning Lizzie" a very tired Ashley said. Mary-Kate was behind her rubbing her eyes. Chris came running from the bathroom with the kit. "Elizabeth, what's going on?" Mary-Kate said, now more awake. When they both saw Scarlett they hurried to where we were. "Elizabeth, what happened?" Mary-Kate asked again. Before I could reply Robbie said "We don't know, Scarlett called her about 30min ago so we could go and pick her up". At this point, Scarlett wouldn't talk, she was still shaking but she was staring into the nothing. Chris and I were cleaning her up. "Elizabeth, can you come for a second?" my older sister asked. I just looked at her and told Ashley to replace me. We stepped away from them so Scarlett wouldn't hear, "What the hell happened?" my sister asked worried. I sighed and told her what I knew. That Colin was an aggressive guy, how he abused her emotionally for months, how he kept threatening her saying he would take everything, expose secrets, and all sorts of things if she left him, how we tried to look for lawyers but everyone said they couldn't do anything and how Scarlett had told me she had it under control and she believed he wouldn't hit her. "Holy shit" my sister said shocked. "Elizabeth this is serious, and if what you're saying is true, that guy is really dangerous. He almost broke her nose and god knows if he's done more damage". "I know, I know, but what do we do?" I asked hoping my sister could help. That's when Ashley approached us and looked at me and MK for answers, Ashely continued "What happened? Your friend is not okay, she's not even speaking and she has a scratch on her cheek besides the dry blood all over her face and shirt". "The husband is abusive" Mary-Kate informed her. "She needs help, legal and psychological help" Ashley told me. "I know but no lawyer accepted helping her" was my response. Mary-Kate and Ashley looked at each other. "What is it? Do you have a plan?" I asked wanting to know what they were thinking. Chris and Robbie came and told us they wanted to give her a few seconds alone since she wasn't responding. "I'm going to kill that guy" Chris said mad. "No, you won't. No one is leaving this apartment" Mary-Kate instructed. "Call her" Ashley said. "Call who?" Robbie asked. "We have a friend, she works for a known firm in Europe. She usually doesn't take this type of cases but she's the best lawyer we know, very discreet, and she won't say no to helping" Mary-Kate told us. "Then what are you waiting for?" Chris asked my sister impatient. "Does anyone know why her husband reacted this way? Did they have a fight?" Mary-Kate continued to interrogate. "How's that relevant?" Chris was getting frustrated at my sisters. "She said something about not telling someone something when we were getting her inside the car" my husband looked at me. "I don't know, she just had her phone on her hand and wouldn't let it go" I remembered out loud. Oh my god. Maybe, it couldn't be...Scarlett always said he was extremely jealous. My sisters noticed my face of realization and asked "What?". "Your friend, Anastasia" I told them. "What's up with her?" Ashley said. "After seeing you guys at the coffee shop, Scarlett and I went to The Outset HQ and she asked for your friend's number since you gave it to me, so I gave it to her". "And?" Chris clueless of how any of this had any relevance asked. "She said she wanted to talk to her. She has mention that Colin tends to be extremely jealous. And I gave her Anastasia's number, maybe somehow he saw them texting?" I thought maybe that could be the why of this outburst. I knew Scarlett wasn't one to pick fights, not ever, especially since he started to act violent. She was too scared. "Shit" Mary-Kate said. "What?" I asked. "Our friend, the lawyer, is really close to Anastasia. She won't be happy to know Tia is some how involved in this situation" Mary-Kate added. "Will she still help?" Robbie questioned. "Yes, she will. She won't like it but she will. I'll call. Don't leave Scarlett alone, keep her company. It's good you brought her here, he won't know where she is at if he finds out she left" my older sister left the room and called this lawyer.
