[A/N: I'm sorry if this chapter causes you any distress....it's terribly written so it hopefully shouldn't...but um...yeah, just a quick warning....don't hate me...please D:]

Wes’ POV:

“I’m gonna go check it out” I whispered, in the quietest voice I could muster. If it weren’t coming out of my own mouth I probably wouldn’t have even heard it, so it surprised me when Gabby immediately tensed up and grabbed on to me, refusing to let me go.

“NO! I am not letting you go Wes…please, just stay here” she whimpered. I winced at the desperate tone in her voice. Could she not do that right at this moment?! I was meant to be the one protecting her, not the guy that waited for the moment when whoever it was attacked. But she needed me here as well. On the one hand I knew that staying here was the wrong decision, but part of me was screaming at me to stay behind, telling me that someone was going to get hurt.

“Gabby, I can’t. I’m not risking them getting anywhere near you”

“But what about you?! If you go up there who knows what could happen to you!” she shrieked, her voice sounding on the verge of tears. Dammit! Why did she always have to make me feel like I had to do everything she said?!

“I’ll be fine! Who knows, it could just be a raccoon or something!” I tried to reason with her but I could still feel her trembling.

“Wes a raccoon doesn’t make loud fucking footsteps!” she hissed. I sighed and moved her off of my chest, she landed on the couch but her hands reached up to grab me, holding onto my neck like there was no tomorrow. “Please don’t do this” she whimpered.

“Just call the police, okay? I’ll be fine!” I reassured her, placing a gentle kiss on her lips trying to calm her down. As I pulled away I noticed a look of pure horror cover her delicate features.

“What if this is the last time I see you?” she croaked, her voice on the verge of tears.

“It won’t be!”

“I love you” she whispered, ignoring me. She looked into my eyes, hers filled with fear as I walked off into the darkness.

"I love you too" I whispered. All that I was hoping was that I got to the person before they reached her. That was all that mattered to me, her safety.

I looked behind me briefly, almost as if I was checking to see if she was still there. It was like the world was hinting at me that something was going to go wrong, the terrible feeling in my stomach becoming more prominent by the second. My eyes latched onto hers, seeing a look of pure panic flood her eyes as she cried out, trying to warn me before it was too late. But that’s the problem you see. It’s always too late. Those moments of impact are unchangeable, you can never stop what happens next, you can only beg that it is over as quickly as it began.

“WESLEY!” She screamed as someone’s hands latched around my head, shoving me to the ground so quickly that I didn’t have the time to react. My body was thrown to the floor, making a loud thump as my head slammed against it first. Pain shot through me, I wanted to cry out in pain but I refused to show that this had affected me.

I was about to get up and show them what I was made of but they lunged on top of me, pushing me to the floor and punching me square in the jaw. Tears sprang to my eyes as I felt the impact against my jaw. I couldn’t let this stop me though, I needed to make sure no-one harmed Gabby.

Gabby.

My heart stopped as I heard the sounds of her screams. These screams were aimed at me, they weren’t due to the fact that a guy was ripping into me. No, they were screams telling me that there wasn’t just one guy that had broken into the house, and that guy was making a beeline straight for Gabby. My entire being froze, I couldn’t listen to the strangled cries coming from her direction, I just couldn’t handle it.
