Wes’ POV:
“I figured you’d turn up” she stated smugly. She gestured for us to come in, standing to the side to let us through. Everything inside of me was screaming for me to stay outside, to not fall for what could quite possibly be a trap, but I pushed the thoughts to the side and stepped forwards, watching her cautiously as I stepped inside.
Drew followed suit gingerly. He obviously knew that something was up that was beyond his understanding. To be honest I should’ve told him before we’d even stepped foot outside his gym, but in my defence I had a lot on my mind right now and ending things with Kaylee once and for all was a major factor.
“Look Kaylee. I’m not here for a friendly little chat. I want to know why the hell you won’t leave Gabby alone.” I demanded, my eyes narrowed onto her back as she sauntered into her living room. She turned back around to face me a cheeky smile evident on her lips.
“Don’t you see Wes? I love you, and I only need YOU. Nothing’s going to stand in my way from getting what I want” she giggled, walking forwards to take my hands in hers but I yanked them away from her reach in disgust.
“How the fuck can you not see that I DON’T love you!” I snarled. The good part of me, the side that would actually show sympathy for Kaylee started to shine through as I immediately felt guilty for yelling that at her. “Look Kaylee…I’m sorry, but I’m in love with Gabby…and for some unknown reason she loves me back. Why can’t you let me be happy instead of trying to take away the one person that is my entire reason for living?”
“Because you don’t love her. You only love her looks. You’re so blinded by the fact that she’s blonde, has an amazing body and just so happens to dig you to realise that the person you actually love is me” she blinked up at me innocently. It was scary that she actually genuinely looked like she believed that was the truth. Out of the corner of my eye I could see Drew desperately trying to hold back his laughter.
“You’re delusional” I scoffed.
“Fine. Don’t believe me, but you know that as soon as you leave high school she is going to leave you!”
“Now you are seriously insane” My eyes narrowed, as I could tell that she was going to continue with this ridiculous talk.
“She will! I guarantee it! You’ll come home one night and she’ll be gone, without any valid reason as to why she left you. You don’t believe me now, but it will happen and then you’ll realise that she’s not as perfect as she seems on the outside.” she shrugged so dismissively as if her words wouldn’t affect me at all.
“You don’t understand what love is.” I growled, the anger rising in my chest. “Love isn’t just something that you can switch on and off, it is completely unconditional. Meaning that I loved her when she was going through her darkest times, I loved her when she was pimply and had braces, I loved her when she pushed me away, and guess what I still love her and that won’t ever change. You can’t force me to love someone that I don’t just to make you happy. I hate to break it to you, but that is not how love works!” I ranted. I could feel my face burning with fury. I guess you could say the topic of love got me pretty worked up.
“But what has she done to deserve you? It’s all because of MY project that you finally worked up the courage to tell her how you feel. It’s all MY doing, and neither of you have given me any credit whatsoever.” She snapped, now glaring at me.
“You can take your project and shove it up your ass” I hissed, shooting back just as much fire as she was throwing my way.
“Only if you do it for me” she giggled, returning to the “cutesy” act all of a sudden. “Oh Blake! You finally decided to show up, how kind of you” she shot him a death glare before she decided to look back at me.
