Gabby’s POV:
“Kaylee, there is no way in hell I am wearing this!!” I snapped as I took one look at the flowery dress she was holding out for me.
“DO IT!” Wesley taunted and shoved me in the changing room. He held the curtain tightly shut to prevent me from escaping. Kaylee slid the dress underneath the curtain and from the sounds of things was laughing her head off with Wes.
I gritted my teeth and took another look at the dress. I guess it wasn’t that bad, the colours were…pretty. I liked the mixture of blues and purples but the pink just made it so….GIRLY. It wasn’t frilly THANK GOD, but it was enough to make me want to vomit.
“But it’s so girly!!!” I whined and punched the space where Wesley’s hands were holding the curtain.
“Complain one more time and I will change you myself!” Wes warned. I sighed and slowly took of my clothes and slipped the dress on.
To my surprise it didn’t look as bad as I thought it would. The fact that my newly dyed blonde hair swished around it perfectly, made me smile. I was on strict instructions that I wasn’t allowed to tie my hair up at all during this experiment, and if I wore one snapback Kaylee would kill me.
“I’m done…” I muttered and nervously stepped out from behind the curtain as Wes released his grip. Kaylee gaped at me and Wes raised his eyebrows.
“My little Gabby has finally turned into a girl” Wes sniffed and pretended to wipe his eyes as he pulled me into a hug.
“I’m older than you dumbass!” I muttered and punched him.
“Don’t mess up her hair Wesley!!” Kaylee shrieked and pulled us apart frantically. Wes pulled a mocking face behind her and I cracked up laughing. She shot a glare at Wes and I had to bite my lip to stop the laughter. “The dress is perfect, now for your first trial…a basketball game. There will be tonnes of guys there that usually wouldn’t take a single glance at you…no offense.”
“None taken…” I muttered, I knew it was the truth…but it still hurt a little.
“So I want you guys to report back to me if any guys seem interested, ask for your number…you know basic stuff like that. Oh yeah…um Wes you’re gonna go with her because with a little makeup on, this dress and her new hair guys will be all over her. We don’t want her getting raped on her first trial.” Kaylee explained enthusiastically.
“I can look after myself!” I protested. “But the company would be nice…” I added and grinned at Wes.
“Yeah, no guys will even think of looking at her with me around!” he said overconfidently, patting his muscles.
“You idiot, let’s go before your self-confidence gets any higher!”
“Oh, wait!! Gabby, you have to look uninterested…remember. NORMAL girls aren’t all that into basketball!” Kaylee pointed out. I rolled my eyes.
“That is SO not true!! But whatever, it’s your project so I’ll do my best…” I huffed, not enjoying feeling like I had to do everything she said.
“ACT GIRLY!” she instructed and ushered me out of the store after paying for the dress.
“Why are you even friends with her? You guys are like complete opposites, and seriously the girl is like a fucking prep, well that is when she’s not being a full time nerd.” Wes commented.
“Yeah I know…but….well I don’t have to explain my friendships to you!” I huffed and walked off. Truth is I didn’t really know why I was friends with her, we always argued but I guess she’d always been there and I needed a girl friend to keep me hanging on to that shred of hope that I wasn’t a full out boy.
