Chapter Fifteen

The next day came and Liway was more than excited to start the day. She woke up early and when she saw the rising sun, she immediately remembered Ryle calling him sunshine. She opened her phone and saw a message from him.

From Ryle:

Don't eat too much at home.
Nagluto ako para sa 'yo.
Good morning, sunshine.

She smiled as she typed her reply.

To Ryle:

Naks, araw-araw ko na bang aasahan 'yan?

She received a voicemail in reply.

"Oo naman, just ask."

Hindi na siya nag-reply at naghanda na para sa trabaho niya. She found her mother preparing breakfast for the whole family in the kitchen so she decided to help her out. Ipinagtimpla niya ang ina ng kape at saka hinanda ang mga isasahog sa sinangag na gagawin ng ina.

"Papasok ka sa trabaho, anak?" tanong ng ina.

"Opo, Ma. Maayos naman na ang pakiramdam ko."

"Pakisabi sa boss mo, pasensya sa inasal namin ng Papa mo kahapon, ha?"

Tumango si Liway. "Maintindihan niya 'yon, Ma."

"Ang guwapo ng boss mo. Buti hindi ka na-i-in love sa kaniya, anak."

Natawa si Liway sa tinuran ng ina. "Hindi 'yan mangyayari, Ma. Noong una ay naiinis pa ako sa kaniya pero noong nakilala ko siya, tinuring ko na siyang parang isang kaibigan. Hanggang doon lang 'yon."

"Sigurado na ba 'yan, Liway Izzet?"

Sumimangot siya nang marinig ang buong pangalan sa ina. "Oo nga po, Ma. At saka alam kong hindi ako magugustuhan ng taong 'yon."

"Anak, ang sabi ko ikaw ang magkakagusto sa kaniya. Dahil ba hindi siya magkakagusto sa 'yo, sigurado ka nang hindi mo siya magugustuhan? Hindi gano'n 'yon, anak."

Liway about what her mother said. "Hindi talaga, Ma. Imposible 'yon."

MEANWHILE, Ryle was busy packing up for the surprise he has for Liway. He packed up quite a few things and also a picnic blanket. May pribadong lugar siyang alam kung saan niya dadalhin ang babae.

He also made some Filipino dish for her. Maski si Ryle ay nagulat sa effort na ginagawa niya. Fpr some reason, making Liway happy feels like an achievement for him that always makes his day. After making sure that he got everything ready, he texted her.

To: Liway

Hey, I'll pick you up.

Immediately, he received a reply from her.

From: Liway

OTW na ako, hehe.

He felt a little disheartened when he read that, but figured that he still has time to fix everything. He ran to his full length mirror then checked himself. He frowned upon looking at his basic shirt and jeans outfit.

"Bullshit, you're going on a date!" he told himself but stopped midway. "I'm going on a date. . . with Liway?"

He couldn't believe those words came out of his mouth. He shook that thought off his head and went to his closet to change. He tried every casual attire he had but couldn't find the right one. As he was wearing a white muscle shirt with black cotton shorts, there was a knock on his door.

Pagbukas niya, nakapameywang na si Liway sa harap niya. Tatanungin pa sana niya ito kung paano nakapasok sa bahay niya pero naalala niyang binigay pala niya ang duplicate ng susi the last time they had sex there.
