"Do we have to do this?" Zack leaned in and whispered to me irritably.

"Uhm..."

I looked at the other pairs around us.

Daniel and Cindy were on the other side, seated on a one seater. Daniel on the main seat and Cindy on the arm rest next to him.

Anthony was there too, his partner was a girl who wasn't in our grade, a sophomore maybe but she definitely looked more than psyched to be Anthony's partner. Cody was paired with Beatrice, a really pretty girl in our class. I looked around to see if Georgia was around to see this. Unfortunately,  she was.

She was seated on a love seat with Tiffany next to her beside where Cassie stood. Georgia's curly hair was all big and poofy in an afro style that I had thought was really cute when she got here but now it looked like she was trying to hide behind it. I couldn't tell whether she was looking at Cody but it seemed that way.

Cassie gave us a stern look.

"Are you guys joining us or what?" She snapped.

I looked around. People were chattering in anticipation and excitement. They had gathered around to watch Cassie's little game and we were the only ones who weren't in position yet.

I turned to look at Zack.

"We don't have to if you don't want to." I told him quickly in a whisper.

Honestly, my stomach was already churning and I felt sick.

I didn't want all this attention on me.

Cassie knew I didn't like the spot light yet she still pulled this stunt.

Zack looked around.

His eyes fixed on something.

I turned around and saw Cindy smiling at him.

I looked back at him in confusion and was about to ask what that was about but he spoke before I could.

"No. Let's do this. I'm game."

I looked at him in confusion.

Since when was Zack ever 'game' for something that involved a school social setting.

He took my hand and pulled me forward towards the couch in the middle which was the only one still with room.

The one that Cody and his date sat on. Another guy was already seated with his partner. It's then that I realised that it was Ryan and another girl who I didn't recognise but she was gorgeous.

Ryan didn't look like he wanted to be there and knowing him, Cassie probably had to drag him over to participate.

He finally seemed to notice our presence. His eyes darted up to me.

"Oh - hey." He greeted, sounding nervous.

I didn't want to be hostile towards Ryan. But I couldn't help it.

I hadn't seen much of him at school or spoken to him, even in the classes we shared. Which meant one thing, he was avoiding me.

Which meant another thing, he had known about Cindy and Daniel and hadn't told me.

I didn't say anything. Zack looked at me seeming confused but he didn't say anything about it.

"Hey man, could you move over a bit?" He asked trying to create room for us. As it was, there was only room for one small person.
