And you over think
Always speak
Cryptically
I should know
That you're no good for me
Hot and Cold, Katy Perry

"Eddie! You need to get a move one. We're gonna be late." I called as I rushed out my room all the while trying to shove my books into my backpack as I headed out my room and out onto the hallway.

I had totally slept in and somehow not heard my alarm which means I was running a bit late. I knew that Zack was probably already ready and waiting for us. It was so rude to delay him when he was in fact doing us a favour.

Eddie came up behind me walking casually.

"Why are you stressing? Dad's taking us today."

I looked up at Eddie who walked around me and descended the stairs.

"What?"

I got everything in my backpack and followed my little brother.

I found him in the kitchen already preying on a stack of pancakes.

I looked at my father who sat casually reading a newspaper.

"You're taking us to school?"

My dad looked up at me.

"Oh yeah. I thought Eddie told you last night."

I looked at Eddie who was already scarfing down his food.

"No. He did not."

My dad looked at Eddie giving him a stern look.

Eddie shrugged. "Hey, I tried. She was the one who wasn't in her room."

My dad's head snapped back to me.

"What?"

"Those look so good." I spoke as I quickly settled down on the stool beside Eddie and grabbed a plate. I started stacking it up even if I knew I probably wouldn't eat it all.

I could feel my dad's eyes on him.

I definitely wasn't going to tell him I had been at the Andrew's alone in a shed with Zack.

"So why are you driving us today?" I asked quickly changing the topic as I took a bite of my food.

"You ain't slick." Eddie muttered beside me.

I elbowed him.

"Hey!" He yelled.

I gave my father a smile hoping he would overlook everything.

He just shook his head and set the paper down.

I noticed that he had a serious expression on his face.

"Actually. I need to talk to you both. It's about something serious."

I froze.

Eddie did too with his fork halfway to his mouth.

"Oh."

When dad got this way it usually meant one of two things, Grandma was sick or... it had something to do with mum.

"I should tell Zack he shouldn't wait up." I muttered as I reached for my backpack and pulled out my phone.

All the while I was nervous about what dad had to say.
