----------------------------return to Kagami's POV----------------------
I was so physically and mentally exhausted that night that I slept until noon the next day. I would have slept even longer, but at 12 o'clock my nose is aroused by a delicious aroma wafting in from the kitchen. Is that Shokupan I smell sizzling on the griddle? My eyes slide open lazily. I make my way out from under the comforting weight of Creed's sleeping figure. He gives a little grunt and rolls over grumpily. I can't help but giggle and shake my head at him. I walk curiously into my kitchen only to find an immensely surprising sight. There before me stands none other than Osamu Dazai clad in my lacey pink apron. He sways back and forth on his hips, humming as he whisks a bowl of batter.
"Good morning, sunshine," Dazai says with a grin as he notices me.
"Morning," I reply as a yawn escapes my lips.
I take my seat at the breakfast bar and watch in amusement while Dazai continues flipping pancakes and singing his little song. Before I know it, I have a stack of shokupan cakes drizzled with sweet jam placed in front of me. This whole situation is so bizarre I just can't stop the chuckle rising from my chest.
"What's so funny?" Dazai asks, placing his hands on his hips and poking his bottom lip out.
His stance only makes it all the more comical. I laugh at him as I answer, "Nothing, nothing," and stuff another big bite of food into my mouth. Dazai sits down next to me with his own plate of food, and we eat breakfast together in comfortable silence. I've never felt so safe with anyone before in my life. It occurs to me then that he must've stayed here all night. Sure enough, as I turn to glance at the couch I see blankets and pillows laid across it messily. He stayed just to make sure I was okay all night? A warm blush and a small smile creep onto my face. I appreciate him all the more.
Dazai pulls me out of my thoughts saying, "Kagami, I need to ask you something."
"Sure, anything," I say looking up at him.
"After everything happened yesterday, Atsushi came to me with this crazy idea. He says we should form an alliance with the Port Mafia," Dazai pauses thoughtfully then continues, "What do you think?"
I don't even hesitate before answering, "I completely agree."
"That was fast. What makes you so sure?" He questions.
"When I was helping you set up the smoke bombs yesterday, I ran into the mafia. They were fighting for the city and they even helped me complete my mission. That's when I realized we all have the same goal." Then with a shrug, I add, "We all just want to protect our home."
Dazai nods, "I agree. That's why I brought it up to the president this morning and we are meeting with Mori later." His next words are very careful as he says, "Do you think you'd be up to attending the meeting? It's okay if you're not. I just think that if anything goes wrong, your ability would be good to have on hand."
I think about it for a long time, chewing on my food slowly as I consider his offer. I finally come to an answer, "I'm not sure I'm exactly combat-ready...but I want to help. So I'll be there just as a backup plan okay?"
"That'll be just fine," he says patting his hand on my head. He gets up and starts cleaning the kitchen saying, "I'll clean up here. You go get dressed and then we'll head out."
"What? We're having the meeting already?"I exclaim.
Dazai just chuckles. "You do know its already 1 PM right?"
"Oh yeah..." I say with an embarrassed smile. Realizing I never actually took a shower yesterday, I hop in the shower and get dressed for the day. Then, much to his dismay, I drag Creed out of my bed, and we all head to the meeting spot.
Dazai leads me a little ways away into the trees, just far enough to be out of sight. I wait in my hiding spot and watch the meeting go down. Every so often I throw a stick as far as I can in the other direction for Creed to go fetch. After sleeping for so long, he has way too much energy. I have to admit, I'm a little nervous. If they break out in a fight, I don't know if I'll be able to help them. I'm not sure I'll ever be able to shoot a gun again actually....
Luckily the meeting goes fairly well. After a small debate, the two bosses finally come up with an agreement, and the mafia takes their leave. I let out a sigh of relief as I watch them go. I hadn't realized I was holding my breath until now.
---------------------------Akutagawa's POV----------------------------------
Having concluded our pointless meeting with the agency, the boss and our team make our way through the trees to leave. That's when something catches my eye. A familiar black creature catches my eye. Creed.
'Why is she here?' I wonder begrudgingly.
I can't help my drifting gaze moving in Kagami's direction. I hate her. I hate everything about her. Yet, I still search for her. Sure enough, I catch just a quick glance of her and the mutt a few meters away. As soon as I see her, I immediately look away. Even more than I hate her, I hate whatever invisible force pulls me to her. I can't allow the boss to see this weakness of mine...
Little do I know that Mori did notice my distraction. In fact, he follows my gaze all the way to it's source and notices Kagami himself. A devious smirk crawls onto Mori's face, a plan unfolding in his mind. Chaos shall surely ensue.
