Emani stood at the front desk yawning trying to fight her sleep. Emani was reverting back to her old ways already. Not taking her medicine just to get attention from her dad and she planned to misbehave when she got back to school from off suspension.
"Scuse' me." A deep voice woke her up from her slumber. Her eyes met with Ja's as a smile graced his face.
"I-I'm sorry." Emani stuttered touching a bunch of buttons on the touchscreen.
"You good."
"Party of?" Emani trailed off. "Just me." Ja said as Emani nodded. It threw her off a little because usually only older people come here to eat by themselves; younger people always come with an entourage.
"Follow me." Emani took a menu from under the counter end led Ja to the back of the restaurant.
Emani pulled the chair out for Ja, he mugged her and pushed it back in. "Watchu' pullin' da' chair out fa'? You ain't no man."
"It's my job." Emani chuckled as she watched Ja pull the chair out and sit down. "Where yo' friends?" Emani asked.
"I decided imma' give em' a break fa' today." Ja shrugged.
"A break?" Emani questioned.
"Yea, they work hard."
Emani immediately wanted to know more because she was confused. "Why they need a break from you though? Ok i'm sorry i'm askin' too much."
"Nah it's straight." Ja waved her off slightly smiling as he was caught off guard by her voice; it reminded him of the princess, Tiana. "They work fa' me."
Emani's mouth formed into a oval shape as Ja nodded. "What's your business?"
Ja chuckled. "Ian' gotta' business." This was his first time coming across somebody that didn't know who he was; guess you can say he got humbled.
