Equin made it to the bar taking her place behind the counter, ignoring her two sisters, and their questioning look.
"Equin, is everything alright? You said that you were going to spend your day off helping John and Clara on their farm," Angelina questioned.
"I saw them. Then Connor showed up and started issues with the new farmhand, Cayden as well as demanded I leave. I didn't want to start any confrontation that would have led to Connor breaking the peace treaty. That's the only reason why I left. But instead of going home I'm here at the bar, helping on my day off," Equin explained as a frantic looking Carter entered the bar sitting down.
"Sorry to interrupt your social hour but, can I get a drink," Carter asked.
Gail walked over glaring at Carter. "What do you want?"
"The strongest whisky you got. I just saw Connor leaving the town. He didn't look too thrilled when he left. This might be our final hours of peace in this town before Connor comes and breaks the treaty by tearing everyone apart," Carter said nervously.
Gail grabbed a glass along with the bottle of whisky, pouring it before handing it to Carter. "What makes you think that Connor would break the treaty? Connor knows if he breaks the treaty, he doesn't get to mate my sister Equin."
"What makes you think that Connor won't mate Equin anyway? He's already got his eye on her. There is nothing you can do to keep him from claiming her as his own," Carter said before taking a swig from the glass before someone came up behind him, clapping a hand down on his back.
"Carter Wills, you're one lucky guy. Connor wants to have a little chat with you," Kino said placing a twenty-dollar bill on the counter.
"That's a bit much," Equin began saying.
"It's also to cover the tip," Kino said. "I'm glad that you're down here instead of in your apartment though. Connor wants to speak to you too."
"I have done nothing wrong. I don't know why he wants to speak to me," Equin said.
"If you don't come speak to him, he will come down and collect you himself; and he will drag you all the way back to the camp. Do you want him to do that, Equin," Kino asked.
"You don't have to go Equin. Connor can go without seeing you for the day," Gail said.
"If I don't go then Connor will only grow more annoyed. We don't want that to happen. I won't risk people getting hurt again," Equin said while walking out from behind the counter. "Lead the way Kino."
Kino walked with Equin and Carter following him to the truck that was parked outside of the bar. "Hop in and we shall be off."
Equin and Carter got into the truck along with Kino, before Kino started the truck pulling out of town.
Both Angelina and Gail watched out the window as the truck pulled away.
"Do you think Equin will be alright? What if Connor does something to hurt her," Angelina asked in concern.
Gail sighed. "There is nothing we could have done to keep her from going. She would put herself at risk before risking the lives of everyone else. We just have to believe that Equin will return home safely to us."
Kino pulled up to the camp site climbing out along with Equin and Carter making their way to Connor as he turned around with a pipe hanging out of his mouth. "I brought them like you wanted."
"You wanted to see me, Connor," Carter asked. Causing Equin to roll her eyes.
"I did," Connor said.
