Heartbeats chapter 9– Day off together

Taylor's POV

I'm annoyed at home hoping time passes fast until 7 pm when I'll start my duty in the ER. Not that I like the ER but I couldn't be there during the day and I miss my friends.
I take my phone and start to text Joe about movies. When he says he never watched "Finding Nemo" I sighed in disbelief.

T: Can't believe you never watched it! You have to!

J: 🙄

J: It's a kids movie…

T: Yeah, but it's great!

J: Fine,we can watch it together if Jack and the girls agree with our movie night, but we will be watching "Panic"

T: I agree.

J: Great. See you tomorrow, good luck with your duty tonight.

T: Thanks! 🥰

It's been a week since Ryan's sessions and I can't help but blush thinking about Joe dripping water after getting out of the pool. Damn, I never was that kind of girl, I never thought about male bodys, never gave a shit about shirtless guys, only Joe.

– What the hell is happening with me… I can't like him romanticaly, can I?

After a couple more hours playing with Benji it's time for me to get ready. When I'm about to leave, he texts me again, and I ignore the fact that my heartbeats tripled when I saw the notification popping up on the screen.

J: They accepted. On our next day off, Saturday, in one week, we will be spending the afternoon in your house. 😉

I text a "Yes!" back and l kiss my lovely cat before going out.

A week later

I woke up with more than just normal anxiety today. It's only 9 am and I already cleaned the guest bathroom, organized my kitchen cabinets, gave a bath in Benji and made my nails.

– Okay, now I should go to the library buy some new books, right Benji?

Benji just looked mad at me. He's been in a bad mood since the bath.

– Own, baby, don't be mad with me. I have you for two months, I had to clean these tiny paws… – I say catching him in my arms and rubbing his belly. He started to purr in my lap, and we know that this means he has forgiven me.

I put him on his bed and got out. The library is pretty much empty, which is a relief because I have more room to walk around mumbling the reviews on the back cover.

Suddenly I get curious about a book "The Girl on the Train", by Paula Hawkins.

– Okay, this must be interesting.

Since it is 10 am yet I decide to go sit in a park next to the bookstore and start to read the book, because I am so obsessed with this book now that I read the sinopsis…

I start to read but my phone vibrates in my pocket, so I take a look.
It 's Joe.
Instantly the blood run to my cheeks and I read the text:

J: What a beautiful lady reading in the middle of the park.

I look around, confused, and then I see a blond man running with a gray bulldog.

– Hi, so this is your boy.– I bring my hand closer to the muzzle so he can smell me.
