Taylor's POV

My eyes flutter open while I try to wake up from a confusing dream. By my side, Joe sleeps peacefully and I sigh, wishing I could have this serenity.

I slowly slip out of the bed, putting on my cute cat slippers before going to the bathroom, throwing water over my neck in an attempt to calm down and forget about ALL the dead people that just popped out in my sleep.

I haven't killed anyone yet. I'm not even in the hospital, that's ridículous. I'm just nervous because in a couple of hours we will get our own cases, even though we are supported by mentors on the surgeries. I need to focus on the fact that I'm good. So that's what I do while putting the water to boil. I need a great cup of coffee.

Benji wakes up and starts meowing around my feet.
I chuckle.

– Come here, my sweet little guy. Are you hungry, right?

I pet him behind his ears and fill his bowl with cat food.

His big blue eyes blink at me like If they were saying thanks and I happily turn my attention back to the coffee.

I finish the coffee and break a few eggs. I'm not hungry but Joe certainly will be when he wakes up. Is 5:20 am now, and we are supposed to be there today by 6:30 am to get the cases designed.

These past two weeks have been amazing. We took mom to shop and she made a point to give him and Josh some dressing advice so they can do it in a more elegant way. Then, she went back to my city and Joe took me on a romantic trip to NY to show me some parks he used to walk around and also to attending a technology fair he was interested in, where we ended up getting a portable point of care US machine that connects with our phones.

– Morning, love.– I listen behind me and smile even before turning around.

– Hi, morning.– I wave slightly and turn back to my pancakes.

– Need some help?– he whispers in my ear and I jump slightly.

– Joe, you scared me.– I complain but don't push him back when I feel his arms around me.

– Sorry. I smell coffee, and these delicious pancakes are Golden and beautiful. Do you need me to help cut fruits or something?

– Yes, a banana would be good, and take the syrup out of the fridge too, please.

I sigh and sit with him two minutes later. At this point even I am hungry.

– Everything is going to be fine, Taylor. You are a great doctor, we all are going to have a great first day.

I don't even ask how he knows I'm a nerve wreck right now because he just knows me. It's amazing how we can read each other this well in just eight months of relationship. Instead, I just thank him because I'm truly grateful for his presence in my life.

– Thanks.

– Nothing to thank me for. It's my job to say the words you need to hear.

I can't hold back a smile and I kiss him over the table.

We feed ourselves and I put on an extra bowl of food for Benji because I'm not sure when I’ll be home again and we leave.

I chuckle seeing Jack's message:
